Need some advice—I’m 26wks pregnant and interviewing for new job Monday. They know I’m pregnant already. If they offer me the job, I’ll probably work for 9wks before needing to go out for the baby. How should I negotiate maternity leave? I won’t be eligible for FMLA, but I’ll do the state leave after birth for 8wks. Should I ask them to grant me a few weeks of paid leave as a PTO advance? Thoughts? Ideas?

Leave it open ended and ask what the maternity leave policy is. They might have an even better one and if they choose to give the bare minimum of the state then negotiate the PTO. Babies get sick and new mommas get burnt out don’t offer to waste your PTO if you don’t have to.

like

That’s a good point - ok I’ll see what they say first and go from there

No harm in asking, but I could easily see them saying no. They might just offer to let you take it unpaid. Advancing PTO is super problematic.

Yeah I’ll leave it open and see what they say. As long as my job would be protected, that’s the most important thing

Since I'd attended an interview long back i was surprised to receive this call and HR informed me that I'll be having a HR round and the day comes i joined the call ( literally they didn't even ask a single HR question and it was completely about TR) when I reached out to HR . I was told this was a TR + MR

Hi! I'm currently trying to move into the IT field and have been getting a few interviews for smaller tech companies, but I'm interested in applying to larger names like Google. Does anyone happen to know what hiring managers or recruiters may be looking for in a cover letter? Do they really read cover letters or are they just scanned through ATS systems? Should I be trying to match keywords from the job listing or go with a more personal approach? Any advice would be appreciated!

I think leadership in my company is just gearing up to sell:
1. When I try to refactor, organize, or address tech debt in the code, I get heavy pushback with no real justification (they just say “keep it simple”) and no stated initiatives to fix said debt. Thanks, I guess I’m just an impetuous child.
2. Marketing wants “more logos” to attract a 2nd round of investment.
3. No long-term vision for our “product.”
4. Way more personnel,no innovation
I feel undervalued, yes, but this is pretty sus

Have a question to make sure this is not "tax evasion"

I made some money in crypto that I want to give to my family -- not withdrawing anything for myself, going to continue to hold.

If I withdraw some profits to give my fam , I'll obviously pay at my tax rate (which is high). Is it better and fine to just directly transfer the crypto to them and they can sell it ? (I know there's a 15k gift tax)

Would appreciate advice -- thanks!

Question is for all jobs, not just litigation and not just legal.

Is it too soon to renegotiate my pay?
