Need some advise! When I get asked what salary range a role is, I honestly don’t know how to answer. How we hire is based upon the interview process and tech screen. I’ve been telling candidates “the starting base for this role is x but is dependent on the interview” obviously they think what I’ve provided is what they’ll get. But that’s not the case - it’s more of you’ll get offered nothing less than x. I need help englishing to make it clear to candidates 🥲 TIA!

I mean, it is dependent on their abilities, right?
So maybe look at their resumes first and give them a range based on what you think they would get - then say the exact amount is based on experience and skills demonstrated during the hiring process.

My company brings people in between the bottom of the range and the midpoint so I offer this range and let people know where they land in that range will be based on their interview.

I am interviewing for director/group PM roles (10 years product management exp) and I was asked as a second round to go through a “product sense” interview, conducted by a junior PM reading the script. Hi, I’m new to the Austin, Tx area and looking for a senior HRBP role. I have 15+ years experience in HR most recently in a more senior leadership role. I moved here from Canada and am finding the lack of US experience to be a roadblock to being considered for roles, even though I tick most/all of the job posting boxes.
If anyone has any insights on how to break in to the market here or a referral I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you, C.
