Need some career advice. I’m currently a Salesforce consultant in healthcare, looking to pivot to work within the political sphere - specifically social impact/policy. I’m passionate about driving societal change, and have struggled to feel like I can do so in my current role. Healthcare is also not of particular interest to me. What are some possible routes I can take from here? And/or specific companies I should look into?

MBA / Masters in public policy management etc. or you can hustle at non profits

OP is not professionally working in that sector, but wants to make a full time career out of it. There are many organizations (government and private) that hire for those roles from specialized programs. Since op already has a undergrad degree, it would make sense to do a (MBA/Masters ) that focuses on public policy; public administration or social service etc. That would make it a lot easier to pivot OPs career since right now he/she doesn’t have any relevant experience

I think my friend is about to make a huge mistake and I need additional arguments for why the following is a bad idea: friend got an offer as an associate at an AmLaw 1000 firm (similar to Polsinelli) and an offer as a staff attorney at a non-market V100. Because the staff attorney firm is more prestigious, friend is leaning that way. I’ve been trying to tell them it’s a terrible idea since it’ll be hard to get another associate role after that.

6 months in at a new firm. 4th year attorney. Completely new practice area from what I did previously. The partner often sends the random potential client call ins my way. Many times, they have questions related to things I’ve never done and he only provides guidance if I can pull him away from something else to ask. I’m super low on hours but feel that it would be ethically wrong to take on a case involving an issue Im totally unfamiliar with and not confident handling. Wrong approach?
