Need some confirmation from everyone that jumping into tech is going to be worth the money in the long run. Trying to leave agency analytics but agency analytics manager salary is very tempting.

I quit my job to go freelance at the end of last May. My W-2s just came in, and just from June-December I earned more $$$ than my previous full year’s salary. Which includes taking all of December off.

I’ve been informed I’m being promoted to the next tier at my job and my review is coming up to finalize it. I’ve been given some detail on the expectation differences, but not a ton.

I had asked months back for the salary ranges for the role I have and the next tier up, but I have a sneaking suspicion they’re going to try to be cheap 😝.

Started at 65k, at 72.5k now and the info given for the role I have now is 65k-85k and 80k-100k for the role I’ll be going into.

I haven't looked at transitioning jobs for the past 4-ish years, so I was shocked to see that I am wildly underpaid and have shitty benefits (obviously my own fault). Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?

Currently, I am enrolled in GTx's MicroMaster's program and am thoroughly enjoying it. However, my current project doesn't allow hands-on experience of the concepts learned. Is there anyone here in the same boat? If so, how are you getting hands-on practice real-world projects (not kaggle) and how do you get the ML model evaluated?
