Ping me 1/1. Might have a reasonable option for you at a client
OP - I moved to an internal role after my kid was born coz I needed better work life balance. You don't have to tell them about anxiety, you can just say for personal reasons you can't travel as much anymore. Or health reasons. First step is to talk to your RP and talent HR. Your RP needs to be on board with it coz they will give the final approval. However you are kinda responsible for finding the internal role yourself - some RPs help with that some don't. Look up the workplace tour of duties page and the internal careers page for internal roles.
Another alternative is.. If you are seeing a therapist, can they write you a note to reduce your travel... And with that note you can probably ask demand HR to find you local projects only.
Also there are lots of people in the same boat as you. So I don't think your RP will judge you coz it's pretty normal to get burnt out after that kind of travel. So don't worry about it! Just phrase it as a short term need. Your RP is more likely to approve if he thinks you will come back in say six months. At the end of six months you can always request to extend another six months. I started with a 6 month tour that has now been going on for 1.5 years
Tour of duty - no change in salary. If you want to transfer permanently they might want to change your salary depending on which team, but can always negotiate
Too needy or that I’m not cut out for this? I’m truly not cut out for the all travel lifestyle and I just wanna get through two years before heading to industry or a smaller / local firm.
Thanks P1. I’m honestly just depressed and am so underwhelmed by my job.
Is there a salary change (lowered) for doing an tour of duty?
Do you have any advice on this P1? I’m up for a promo at mid year but I really need to make sure I’m local or on an internal project. How do I navigate this without seeming needy or damaging my reputation. I roll off right after midyear CRTs
