Wondering when this housing craze in the suburbs will end or prices will stabilize? We are trying to buy a house near my parents in the north shore of long island. We started looking Dec 2019 when it was a buyers market, thought we had time, then the pandemic hit. Now we have a toddler & a baby and no space. If we "overpay" on a house, is it all relative? Will we take a loss if we sell in 5 years? I am struggling with the fact that homes that sold for 1.4 in 2019 are now on the market for $1.9!

I had two interviews this week, both firms made an offer, the one I liked more came in with a lower offer, I’m trying to negotiate and know money isn’t everything but would you guys take the lower offer if you had a gut feeling you would just fit in better with them? Benefits for both firms are about the same and both are mid-size.
