Need some insight into ALT travel policy for traveling outside US. Are there issues with time and expense ? For filing the time do I need the jurisdiction of the place where I am traveling ?

You cant work outside of the US. Take PTO while out of the country

I believe international alt travel is not allowed, check policy. (In any case it requires manager pre-approval.)

Get written approval from PM on proj

It isn’t allowed per standard work policy bc you aren’t supposed to bring your laptop out of the country and you aren’t supposed to take pto is you Alt Travel. Some project teams allow it from partner signoff and IT security approval.

D3 where have you seen that you cannot take PTO during alt travel?

It’s on the official policy I believe.

@D3 plenty of folks travel from client site to an alt site and then take PTO. Very very common. Why would I do client to home to PTO location?

I’m not telling you that you shouldn’t do it. I’m saying it’s not in policy.

@D3 domestically it’s fine

I know someone who got his work&travel permit then traveled internationally (it’s been 5 months) to disconnect mentally (he went through a lot in US alone). Then, he got his green card just 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know if the 6 months period will re-start because he got his GC? Or he has to come back regardless before the 6 months period is finished?
