I started out as a SWE and moved up the ranks pretty quickly. I also have 10 YOE and I work for a Fortune 25. What worked for me is focusing on getting to the next level. At each position I strived to get to the next higher title by exceeding performance goals. I always perform at the next level up. I made sure everyone noticed my accomplishments. I aligned with both business and technical units. You need managers to notice you and building relationships is a must. Start thinking strategically and implement solutions that will help your company achieve its bottom line.

That’s impressive !!! What is your area of focus ? Did you move from SWE to Program Management or Product Management or Sales or anything else ? What is the roadmap that worked for you

Figured I’d add an uplifting confession. For most of my life, I’ve been super self deprecating, probably depressed, and a huge inferiority complex. The past two years, I’ve focused on therapy, being assertive and confident and simple things like saying, “I matter.” Can honestly say even though the past year has been shit bc pandemic, mentally I’ve been living my best life.
TLDR: therapy works people! Give it a shot if you haven’t

Does anyone else use their own original art in their professional work? I did this watercolor for fun because I’ve loved dinosaurs since I was 8 years old and used it to create a new portfolio piece.

I want to have double titles at the top of my slides - one which is the short description (eg. "Company Overview" or "Q4 Projections") and a longer sentence-style title (eg. "Here's the 'so-what.' Our new product sucks, and that's why no one is buying it. ") How can I have two title cases in the template, in the slide master? I tried using a Footer + Title. I want both to be placeholders (“click to add title”)

For those who have, when/why did you deliberately slow down your career, stop aiming for rapid professional growth, and stop trying to be above average in your job?
For those who haven't, why not? Do you know when you will and will you be able to recognize that point when you get there?

Would you lie to get an offer from dream company? Let’s say you did pretty good at interview, and the company (Google) is willing to give you an offer, but team lead at the end of interview asks you about GPA or experience on your resume, etc. Like in reality you got GPA 2.0, but u told them your GPA is 3.5 Would you take a risk and lie?

Advice Please
It's been 4month with the team with no manager. I recently joined the organization and the team I am part of is headed by a lead and one analyst.
So being a new member as Sr.Data Analyst I sometimes have to report to analyst. Considering the fact that he has been part of the team for past 1 year and sometimes he sounds like lead as he is leading some project.
On other hand my manager is continuously asking me take lead in project and try to reduce dependency on that analyst.

Can anyone provide a referral for Visa? I’d appreciate it, thanks.

Anyone else HATE the word “full stack developer” in a lot of tech/LinkedI blog posts? the ONLy time I personally feel it is applicable is when it is being used to describe a developer in a specified domain— or more appropriately— for a specific company.

Ie: Amazon is ran by Java, SQL, and AWS for the most part right? so a full stack developer at Amazon would be competent in those “tech stacks”. However— when I see the word “full stack developer” used as a job title to describe broad categories

I'm a new grad/new hire! What are the usual factors leadership consider when it comes to layoffs? Curious how I should position myself here for both long term and short term 👀.
