Need to park some capital for an expense a year out but it's a big chunk of change. What investments are best to do this? Criteria: returns higher than what a cd or savings account can provide and no risk appetite on the downside

So you want zero risk and high returns. Good luck with that.

You’re a market taker, you don’t get to set your rate of return. You only get to set your risk tolerance. If you don’t want downside risk, you can invest in a CD, savings account, or money market fund.

How much are we talking? I have a fund that returns 10% per year. We ask for a minimum of $100k investment. Low risk, just have to send a PayPal to my cousin in Ukraine.

Might as well ask for how to get a six pack while eating nothing but McDonald’s. Returns are correlated with risk. If you have no risk appetite, you must accepted paltry returns.

Just park it in a HYSA and reap your sweet 0.50%

The only thing I can think of is parking in BlockFi’s USDC or something similar. Earn 8.6% but again to echo what everyone else said there is still going to be risk associated with it. I would definitely do a lot of research before going this route, I don’t even put all my money in here but just relaying what I’ve seen.

Isn’t there some interest rate risk here?

How much we talking?

Look at what TSLA just did, Park it on bitcoin.

Just park the money in a SPAC /j

Some Stablecoins (e.g. USDT) are paying upwards of 6% interest, if you think that fits your risk/reward profile.

Check what it did last spring. It is not risk free

You could look into savings account bonuses. They usually require $10-50K for 3ish months. Bonus amounts vary but can be $100-750+
