Stream of consciousness opinion :
1)Means indestructible if it were a male name
2)why wouldn't they pick a name that was female first instead of a male derivative (akshay is the original name)
3)Americans will butcher it - pronounce aahk shah yah instead of अक्षया
4)Bengali friend tells me Shaya means petticoat in Bengali

I have a neighbor with that name. I like Akshara more but this is fine too. If you guys can’t agree, make it a middle name.

Don’t try to “westernize” names. There’s always greatness in distinct names.

How does it matter what some random people think? You’re the mom and you don’t like it. End of story, find another name.. you don’t need this group’s opinion

Now that I’ve gotten some responses, here’s the back story - hubby loves this name and will not consider any of my suggestions. I would rather go with something with a more English touch but he’s being super headstrong.

Not asking to change the name, only the spelling as pronunciations are different East vs west, For example: Ekta vs Akta both are pronounced same but only when spelled according to region. Or else you can always have the kid correct everyone for rest of their lives. 🤦🏽

It is better both of you get in some sort of consensus. Opinions in FB is not going to matter, unless your hubby is also reading this bowl.

Good name

If this is for a girl child, it’ll be hard to differentiate with the boy name Akshay. I would say, no.

Name of the house I grew up in, so I love it!

Out of curiosity, is anyone else a single parent on here? I have 50/50 custody, but with all the school activities, on my nights alone I am making up time and working. Haven’t seen as many single parent executive women around.

An in-law is in a failing marriage. Her spouse has been extremely crude to her and her kid for several years now to the point where she feels hopeless in getting the love feels she wants and is miserable.

My wife had the idea of me showing the in-law type of love I’ve shown to her (my wife), because she claims the in-law has appreciated what I’ve done for her so far (I haven’t heard such appreciation, however) and the in-law could really use the boost to her self-worth and self-esteem.

Does anyone know about banking embryos for future use instead of transferring? My insurance doesn’t cover anything so all this of out of pocket.

Hi, My current CTC 19.2 YOE 10, skill set .Net, Azure and K8S.

I have got offer from EY with 28.5 fixed + 2.85 Variable.
Also got breakup of 35(33.25 fixed and 1.75 variable) from ATOS.
When I have tried to re negotiate with EY HR to match amount from ATOS. She was saying EY doesn't have that policy of giving counter offer, her personal thought is won't be possible 99%, but she will update later if there is any scope.

Please share your thoughts shoud I wait for EY GDS or go with ATOS.

My husband got exposed to someone with Covid on Monday night and tested positive on Thursday.
Now my 1 year old has Covid. So close to the vaccine coming out. He started to show symptoms last night. I feel so heartbroken and defeated. I did everything in my power to keep him protected. Didn’t socialize, didn’t take flights etc. He’s running a fever and I have been giving him Tylenol every 4 hrs.
Any one been in the same boat? Any tips to handle the situation? How not to feel defeated?
