Need your help picking a luxury/sport car for a weekend trip. I've only driven Honda Civics all my life. My current options, which are all sort of in the $300-400/weekend ballpark: Maserati Ghibli, Ford Mustang GT and BMW 5 series. I could double the price range and get something like the Porsche Cayman or Jaguar F-Type if it's worth it.

It would be my first time ever driving a true luxury or sport car, so really want to make it count. Any thoughts/recommendations? :)

Mustang GT. V8 is a lot of fun, performance is better for the price than paying for the cayman or F type.

like

Mustang GT will probably be the most fun. Maserati = Chrysler with a different badge slapped on it

like

Get the 5 series for all the creature comforts or the Caymen of the budget allows

like

CaymAn

mustang GT if you want performance and 5 series if you are looking for comfort. Go with Caymen for both

my back hurts everytime after a ride in my cayman, but worth it…

Ive rented both mustang gt and gt convertible. Convertible is much more fun if you’ll be in decent weather.

like

Are you only looking at new/slightly used cars? If you wanted a cool sports car in the 40-50k range, you could get a used Aston Martin vantage or db9 which should cover your weekend cruiser needs. But from your list 5 series if you want to use it more or mustang gt if you want a fun second car

like

Oh shit im dyslexic rip 😭

Weekend? Maserati. This is probably the only chance you’ll have to drive one (and ownership is a complete hassle).

like

Sounds like you’ve been deprived of both power and handling. I would go with a BMW or Porsche. Or a Corvette.

How long is the drive, and how much space do you need?

I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design. I don’t want to go back to school for architecture. Ultimately, I want to own my own company developing real estate.
