Needing some advice. I work at a Fortune 500 company and have been given multiple responsibilities over the years which change my yearly goals. I’ve done well with each goal and have improved many processes. I’m prior service and the only female on my team. My question is, after 5 years of always working late, working holidays, never saying no but not getting promoted.. should I leave or hope they see my worth as an employee? I feel like I have Stockholm syndrome with this toxic job.

Have you asked for promotions?

likesmart

Yes. I’ve asked what it takes to be promoted and done those things. Took on more initiatives, improved current processes.. and I still do not get recognized or looked for promotion.

Peace out. Not worth it to be doing so much for a company when your bosses don’t see your value. Many other places will see it.

It’s very simple, they don’t appreciate you and will not. Leave

Put together your talking points in your next review explaining why you deserve a promotion. If you have a job posting of the role you want to be promoted into, useful to have that and show how you are meeting or exceeding those expectations.
If they can’t agree to a promotion on the spot (I likely wouldn’t be able to) then ask them for a timeline for when it will happen. If they say a few months and you believe it then they are on record and you can wait. If they won’t commit then you have your answer and should start looking elsewhere. Then if you get an offer elsewhere you can take it or use it as leverage to try to get what you want at your current company.

Ive done this a few times with no luck. I’ve exceeded expectations in many areas but my manager holds some things against me that doesn’t make sense. For example, sending out an email before 5pm but I’m online working until 7. Or if I forgot to send a file out the day prior and instead sent it the morning of.. it’s held against me and I’m marked as meets below expectations. It’s small things like that, things that don’t impact the business as a whole. (Those examples m are rare and only occur when I have too much on my plate).
He’s a new manager and has had 4 people quit/move departments within 6 months. I’m the last one.
I’ve applied to other departments, gave him the heads up and I have interviews this week.
I really appreciate your feedback and advice.

Time to go where you’re valued and comped accordingly. You deserve better…better work/life a balance and better comp.

Anyone have insight for WilmerHale?

Specifically, I'm interested in knowing:
1. The culture across the firm
2. Whether associates are (or can be) hired in offices that don't have a presence for their intended group (e.g., if I could work out of LA for the IP group, which currently does not have any attorneys in the LA office)
3. What the culture is like in the LA, SF, Palo Alto offices
4. Culture in the IP group, specifically patent prosecution

Thanks in advance!

2nd year partner at a top 6 accounting firm. Have offer from big 4 for $200K more annually. Don’t really want to take it, but how can I not.? That’s approx a college education annually after tax. Should I try to negotiate or just take the money and jump ship. Feeling Seriously undervalued for what I’m bringing to the firm in terms of people building, sales, book of business. Hate to not be loyal, but $200K is $200K. Advice please

Any advice on how to start my search, any sites/groups/forums I should keep an eye on, any particular watch-out, or any leads you’d love to drop? Appreciate every bit of help 🙏

3 folks that I have hired and trained are being offered a Director position above me. I am so proud of them, but I need advice… When I asked why I was not considered, the only reasons that came up were the following: *1. Less college education 2. My age. I am young. 3. Less experience with Landlords.* I have been with this company for quite a while and my goals have been clear. When I asked what I needed to do over the past 2 years to achieve Director, these 3 issues were not mentioned.

My current PM is nice guy, but I don’t feel like he cares about my development and my goals, and he most certainly doesn’t fight for me in the performance reviews.
