Requesting thoughts on developing a registered agent / local business advice (contacts, defense, small real estate masters, etc.) client book. I am thinking about developing semi-passive income streams for myself as a member of a small firm who does litigation and some of this work already. Any advice or anecdotal experience, anyone?

Anyone have insight for WilmerHale?
Specifically, I'm interested in knowing:
1. The culture across the firm
2. Whether associates are (or can be) hired in offices that don't have a presence for their intended group (e.g., if I could work out of LA for the IP group, which currently does not have any attorneys in the LA office)
3. What the culture is like in the LA, SF, Palo Alto offices
4. Culture in the IP group, specifically patent prosecution
Thanks in advance!
Any tips for my product marketing manager interview at Microsoft. Does anyone know what to expect during the interview process?

2nd year partner at a top 6 accounting firm. Have offer from big 4 for $200K more annually. Don’t really want to take it, but how can I not.? That’s approx a college education annually after tax. Should I try to negotiate or just take the money and jump ship. Feeling Seriously undervalued for what I’m bringing to the firm in terms of people building, sales, book of business. Hate to not be loyal, but $200K is $200K. Advice please
Did anyone receive any mail regarding some surprise gift the promotes will receive and asking for address? I remember getting one sometime back. But no idea what happened to it.
Moved to Raleigh and was wondering if any fish here have a store or AD I should go to? Checked out Reeds and didn't love the limited store selection.
Moving to SF this summer (best bet is July) for a full-time contract and I’m looking for a place downtown to move in, preferrably the 94108 zone (terribly sorry for talking in ZIP codes instead of neighborhood names as I’m relocating here all the way from Europe and the whole thing seems fairly new to me). Any advice on how to start my search, any sites/groups/forums I should keep an eye on, any particular watch-out, or any leads you’d love to drop? Appreciate every bit of help 🙏

Can anyone recommend a good work tote that’s has a laptop compartment and is actually cute?
3 folks that I have hired and trained are being offered a Director position above me. I am so proud of them, but I need advice… When I asked why I was not considered, the only reasons that came up were the following: *1. Less college education 2. My age. I am young. 3. Less experience with Landlords.* I have been with this company for quite a while and my goals have been clear. When I asked what I needed to do over the past 2 years to achieve Director, these 3 issues were not mentioned.
Has anyone been successful at creating “boundaries” in the workplace both with duties and relationships with bosses and not been gaslighted to believe they just aren’t being a team player ( or in other words highly agreeable)? I’ve seen it happen around me and I’m waiting for the day it directly effects me. I would love to learn from your experiences and success stories…
What consulting related Instagrams would you recommend to follow? Fun a more serious ones. Thanks
Been offered a Sr. leadership position making significantly more money at a different company. I’m relatively new to this field, so I’m not sure I should take the leap. Also worth mentioning I do not get along with my current boss and my current role is newly created so they haven’t given much thought to what my career trajectory would look like . On the other hand I am learning a lot and I really like the company. Any opinions here?
My (male) partner greets all the guys with a handshake, but always gives me — the lone female — a side-hug. I’d like to also get the handshake, but he’s a huge dude and I’m tiny ...
Hi all, need a bit of performance advice - I’m thinking of asking for a new PM, but I’m worried about how that will impact my reputation in the team.
My current PM is nice guy, but I don’t feel like he cares about my development and my goals, and he most certainly doesn’t fight for me in the performance reviews. I need someone who can push me and who has my back. Has anyone requested a new PM, and if so, how did you go about it, and where there any repercussions? Thanks for your honesty.
Anyone made the switch from a traditional path to being a professional career coach? While I do enjoy the tax compliance part of my work, I think my real strength and passion is in the people: mentoring, motivating, helping people to think about and set a plan to achieve their goals. Does career coaching seem like a good fit? Any advice on where to start?
I’ve been struggling to be satisfied with my current job as an AE and interviewing else where, however, everywhere that I interview I keep getting the same feedback: “hiring managers had only positive things to say about you, but we have decided to move forward with candidates who whose skills are more closely aligned to the immediate needs of the team. Please consider us for the future”
I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, anyone have advice?

Hi all. What would you want in a care package from your boss?
My team is almost at a major deadline, and everyone’s been putting in nights and weekends over the past two months get here. I got budget to send them care packages. Thoughts on what you’d want?
Has anyone broken an employment contract? i signed an employment contract that i was pretty much stuck since the contract was never mentioned during interview & offer. Only on my 1st day when i already left my previous job. I’m miserable and cant bear to stay for another 7 months. I’m looking for a new job and know that i will have to pay back training and bonuses when i leave, but for my own mental health it is worth it. Has anyone else experienced this? Would love to hear and not feel alone
Hello Ladies! I am currently interviewing for two manager level roles in business intelligence / data analytics. What is an acceptable PTO these days? Has anyone had success negotiating this? I currently have unlimited PTO. One company had 15 vacation days, one had 28. Big difference there 15 seems really low.
Hi, ladies! Question regarding merit increases, I just had my conversation with my manager and my increase for the year is just under 3%. That’s not a lot, huh?
Ive been put on a project based on my capabilities to get things done quickly and efficiently. I’m put on a project each time because of it. The work keeps becoming more and more and she continues to give me the same comments saying that I do a great job and she promised that she would be able to move me in a different position by next year. At what point should I assume this as me being taking advantage and start lookin for other opportunities? Should I negotiate a higher pay?

Have you asked for promotions?
Yes. I’ve asked what it takes to be promoted and done those things. Took on more initiatives, improved current processes.. and I still do not get recognized or looked for promotion.
Peace out. Not worth it to be doing so much for a company when your bosses don’t see your value. Many other places will see it.
It’s very simple, they don’t appreciate you and will not. Leave
Put together your talking points in your next review explaining why you deserve a promotion. If you have a job posting of the role you want to be promoted into, useful to have that and show how you are meeting or exceeding those expectations.
If they can’t agree to a promotion on the spot (I likely wouldn’t be able to) then ask them for a timeline for when it will happen. If they say a few months and you believe it then they are on record and you can wait. If they won’t commit then you have your answer and should start looking elsewhere. Then if you get an offer elsewhere you can take it or use it as leverage to try to get what you want at your current company.
Ive done this a few times with no luck. I’ve exceeded expectations in many areas but my manager holds some things against me that doesn’t make sense. For example, sending out an email before 5pm but I’m online working until 7. Or if I forgot to send a file out the day prior and instead sent it the morning of.. it’s held against me and I’m marked as meets below expectations. It’s small things like that, things that don’t impact the business as a whole. (Those examples m are rare and only occur when I have too much on my plate).
He’s a new manager and has had 4 people quit/move departments within 6 months. I’m the last one.
I’ve applied to other departments, gave him the heads up and I have interviews this week.
I really appreciate your feedback and advice.
Time to go where you’re valued and comped accordingly. You deserve better…better work/life a balance and better comp.
