A market crash? Like in the 1930s???
You’re trying to time the market... I think you know the response you’ll get here.

like

Never time markets. 25 yrs is a long time. 401k is meant to be a long-term vehicle. Stay invested even during the crashes, you’ll be fine. The key is riding it out, always.

like

🤦🏾‍♂️ Why did you do that? Think long term. Stick with your portfolio strategy. Rebalance every few years as needed.

like

I know right

Move it back to an 80/20 portfolio and dont look at it again for another 40 years

Got it , thanks

OP, if you’re under the age of 60, a market dip shouldn’t be a concern to you. If you’re over 60, this will matter and I’d talk to a financial advisor.

like

If you think you can have perfect timing go for it, otherwise beware.

Thank you that’s a good visual reassurance that I am making a mistake

I see market rally a bit after I made the decision, makes me feel if I am doing the right thing. What are some of your suggestions to mitigate my fear or what do you think of what I did . Any other safer alternatives ? Do you see a crash nearing ?

25 years is all I have

Why don't you invest over a time horizon, say 1,5-2y if that makes you feel more comfortable? Split your capital in installments and enter the market every month instead of buying altogether. If there's a crash, you will buy some of the dip. If there's not, you'll have partially invested.

Sure, this way you may feel more confident, if you're so certain of the crash (which, btw, I also am).

Go DCA

Omg. It is honestly shocking people in financial jobs do stuff like this.

Not trying to hurt anyone. Just legitimately surprised that individuals who work in the financial sector in one sense or another make decisions like this. I’m glad you are being proactive to hopefully correct a mistake before it becomes larger.
