Does Tata Consultancy hav become so underrated in thr salary negotiations? they don't even want to offer 25% hike for 10 yoe. Just coz we hold a decent experience, they come back us for discussion. I seriously dono in what world they live in, when the market is paying 30 to 50 and 100+ %'s here thy still go by brand value, giving top class medical benefits, learning, etc. Do they even think, other gud companies don't have brand value & yet they still offer good % hikes. Is this same across TCS?

That's a fantastic idea if you can raise starting salary by the amount to cover relocation. Then you have a "relocation" amount again the next year.😀 If they're just using that line to say no relo then you just negotiate as you would in any other situation. Try to understand how high they can go and get them there.
I think what he's saying is that when talking total comp, HR is throwing the relocation number in, which is stilly since that's a one time event and presumably would come with an equal expense (the relocation) that would totally negate it as true "compensation"
Well summarized! I don’t consider reimbursement of relocation expenses in the same bucket as salary, target bonus percentage, or equity. HR continues to insist that relo package should be considered part of TC.
Can you give the actual numbers or hypothetical? Helps to understand your dilemma
Please see my reply to M2 below with actual numbers.
M1 - Why is relocation a scam? And you already get a joining signing bonus so you would you ask for your relocation too right?
M1- Thanks for the advice! Looking to leverage it as I finalise the process.
Who is getting that kind of sweet relo package? That is very good package for when a company asks you to move and you don't want to and they pay for housing until you find a place, etc. I personally think relo is a bit of a scam if you applied to a location knowing you'd have to move (again, different if they ask you to move). Just ask for a signing bonus.
Yes, very true. We needed the safety net as we had only purchased a house 8 months prior to relo.
If it's Accenture and for an MD role, this is a negotiation. They are low balling you imho. Try to understand if the market you're going in is good AND they need you. If they need you, then 80-100k difference in TC is nothing.
Lol. Let them not move you. Why on earth they will include relocation as compensation. Unless your relocation fees are 100 k. Instead they should pay additional for loss and stress related to relocation and readjustment .
I’d recommend asking HR how they are defining total comp. There is a difference between base Comp and Total Actual Comp and Total Targeted Comp. Ask HR to explain what comprises each, how you’ll be taxed on each component and the range for each.
M2- Relocation is 125k?
Sorry, to clarify, our relo was through my husband’s company. He’s a VP.
