How did you negotiate? I need to do that too

It’s the form that explains the cash price, adjusted price based on whatever insurance company rates they follow, what your insurance paid against that, copays, deductibles, and finally the balance remaining that you are responsible for.

Call billing and inquire about financing options. Be polite and patient. Opt for payment plan or one lump sum payment depending on ur situation. Offer payment if a deep discount is offered. In my case, they offered $200 off initially and I stated I can pay up to $1000 right away. They accepted my offer.

Yes!!! I did it years back, $3500 down to $800, I don’t even know how!

I work for a lot of hospital clients and they typically have slot of bad debt and charity care on their income statement. You would be surprised how many people walk in to the ER with no insurance and simple walk away paying nothing. The best approach if you got a big bill is to call the billing department after all the dust settles with you insurance company. It’s at this point the hospital knows that the average person probably cannot pay a larger amount say over $5000 immediately. I simply say what type of discount will you provide if I pay cash now vs entering into a payment plan. Most hospitals are desperate for cash and will give you a decent discount since it’s risky for them to have you pay installments over a number of months or years like a credit card. I did this for my wife when she got her appendix out. We knocked off 4k simply by offering cash now. The amount may differ time by provider but you will get something if you ask.

Yeah it’s ridiculous sometimes the doctors just over bill so the % that insurance pays is what they expect to get and they drop the rest if you call. The number of times my wife did this probably saved us 40k over the years.

Nobody should have a bill that large to begin with. Yikes. We need healthcare reform.

I got a bill of $7k for my son's emergency visit + 911 call (ambulance). He stayed overnight and like a dumb f, I paid everything because I NEVER imagined I could do this! Thanks for the info - will always match bill with explanation of benefits!

Damn!! Tips please

What does it mean to write off the remainder?

They forgive the remaining debt. It’s magically gone.

Call and offer immediate payment and you can often get the price knocked down.

Always negotiate with hospitals and doctors. Be nice and say it is your intent to pay. They will say no repeatedly. Keep pushing the issue. Most of the time this works. I have also taken the nasty route. The best hand is to find a medical malpractice, hippa violation, or state board of insurance mistake. Hippa violation is the easiest; the more they talk the more likely they will screw up. Yes I am a jerk; but I know my rights. Please note you can and will be sent to collections if you take too long. Make your they freeze your account pushing hard and fast is your best bet.

Hi all 👋🏼 I would like to read your suggestions: What are some questions you would ask or what are some things you would make sure to have in place before accepting a remote position? I am thinking asking about taxes, equipment, health insurance, what happens if I move, etc. Am I missing anything?

Is anyone else upset by how much we lose from our paychecks to taxes?? I calculated it out and it’s like 20% of mine. Why give people stimulus checks when you could just have everyone pay less in taxes.

i don’t drink alcohol. i’m about to start working in person for the first time. worried about happy hour and the larger social aspect of finance/ib. i have a history of mental and digestive health issues. even a white claw gives me extreme fatigue and brain fog the following day. but i’m still fun sober i have a blast i match energies. but i’m worried people will think i’m being a bum by not drinking with them. how do i navigate this gracefully? i want to fit in.

Good morning, I am wanting to transition from Healthcare into HealthTech. I have been in Healthcare for 22 years and I have front and back end experience as well as laboratory experience. I do not know any roles to look into that will be suit me and how to structure my resume . Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hey Chicago Teachers…Cheering you on from South Carolina where we can’t unionize. Thank you to that counselor that was on television that said, “No, schools are not safe” Please continue to open their eyes about how the non-plan or plan as usual, is not sustainable with Omicron and unvaccinated children and some faculty and staff. Remote til this Omicron settles down (probably the end of January) We need children in N95 or KN95, smaller class size, windows that open, testing, air filtration…

I have a surgery coming up in late 2021. I'm ready to quit my job, but the medical insurance and benefits are great and I don't know what the same would look like at another company, particularly in year 1. Should I try to stick it out another year at current firm even though I'm not happy? Or take my chances at another company?

I was taking a left turn and a driver ran the red light from opposite end and hit my car. Everyone is safe and both the cars are drivable. She called her insurance and told that she was at fault. Her insurance sent me the claim details. I took all necessary detail/pictures from her. What else do I need to do?

Do people really have to work late night in advertising agency? I'm new to the industry like I graduated a year ago from an average college with some high hopes to dive into a professional agency, working in an average company but thank god I got the job in this Covid crises, yet underpaid and working for atleast 12 to 13 hrs a day, and someday the working hrs surpasses, isn't there any regulatory that can help people like us for our well being? Or help us get money, in return of our health?

Seriously though, can you guys in the US please explain to me (A Brit) why the hell people in your country don't want universal healthcare like our NHS? Please?

What if you are mandated for a Vaccine? We know there are different ways to look at this; moralistic, political, personal and professional. Never the less, I'm pretty sure of the dilemma each of us will face in the near future! I'm interested hearing what your thoughts if confronted?

Has anyone gone on short term leave to help manage their mental health and recoup? I’ve felt burnout coming for months and it’s here, and so are the feelings of depression. I don’t really know where to even start the process, or know that it’s the right move for me.

I know I’m not the only one going through the 2020-2021 burnout. How are we getting through this?! Saving a marriage, raising little ones, corporate ladder climbing for ourselves, supporting and growing others, maintaining health, all-around positive and motivational outlook. There is just not enough space or time in my planner for everything! 🥴

Please help 😭 I just don’t enjoy teaching anymore . My mental health has taken a toll. Some days I just feel like I’m going through the motions . If I leave mid year there will be consequences. I just don’t know what to do . I’m so stressed out and we are expecting .

What can you work with a bachelors in Forensic Psychology? I just finished my degree but plan to enroll in Fall 2023 for the masters program in mental health counseling.

Hi everyone! :)

When you have interviews and ask one question and get a 15 minute response out of a 30 minutes time... 😓

When I first started at Deloitte out of undergrad, I was known for writing long and detailed emails... I just sent a response that said "y" (as an abbreviation for "yes") #ConsultingChangesPeople
