NY is like that. but when you file your tax at end of the year, there is credit given back. as your accountant, they know it
The pages of the W2 don’t mean anything. They simply fit three states at a time on the paper.
Yea. It’s normal. NY does this because of the sheer volume of people commuting in from NJ and CT.
You have to use a special form to back out the time you didn’t spend there. It sucks.
Remind me again why people like working in NYC?

@op I worked in 9 states this year and most of them have their own page but when you file your accountant will make the appropriate adjustments
It’s NY law that your w2 has all of your wages even if it wasn’t all earned there. My company helps you figure out what’s your actual NY wages, maybe your company has something similar.
States I worked in didn’t get their own page. They just showed some hours billed on my resident states page.
Is this normal??
Thanks everyone! I went to hr block to talk to someone and they had no clue how to handle it. Kept telling me my w2 was wrong. Found another accountant that’s cheaper and had knowledge on the matter. I appreciate y’all
Op, same thing happened to me and I’m trying to get it sorted out? Would you be able to share the accountant’s contact info?
Hi pwc. Did you end up moving to Chicago? Would you mind sharing your accountant's details if you found one?
