New AC currently doing internal work. While I understand it’s good to be seen around the office, would I leave a negative impression if I WFH until 2022 due to worsening covid situation and Christmas?

No, you’d just miss out on upside as mentioned above (easier to learn when in the same room, good to connect with Bainies)

Are the people you’re doing internal work with from your office and are they physically going in (I.e., would you get to see them in person)? If not, then I don’t see any reason for you to go in. However, if you have the opportunity to work in person then my recommendation would be to do so. This job is hard, and building actual connections with people makes a difference. That’s harder to do virtually in my opinion. Your mileage may vary. You don’t want to start your Bain career feeling like you don’t belong or not feeling confident (trust me, there’s plenty of time for that). Getting comfortable being in the office, working with other Bainies, and getting to know people are all good things you can be doing to put yourself in position to succeed. This is especially true since you’re (presumably) new to the working world.

What do you do when small local firms won’t give your resume the time of day, but everyone you ask for resume feedback on says your materials are fine? These aren’t big law or boutiques, we’re talking probably paying $20-30 an hour part time as an associate with firms of 1-3 attorneys generally. I know biglaw is recovering from COVID but has it really hurt small law so badly getting an interview is next to impossible? Any and every practice area. Work is work. Anyone moved from a condo downtown to a nice chalet/house with a lot of land in the countryside? Our work being full time remote, I’m highly considering this. It just seems to be so much more freedom and space. I’m only 23 and alone but the city is too restrictive and not fun with covid.
