Just call them “wordsmiths” instead of copywriters, “graphic artists” instead of art directors, and “weasels” instead of account services.
DLIB1, weasels for account people? Really? Grow up, you shitgibbon.

You seem fun, and not elitist at all.
☝️ You really feel "poor ignorant souls" is strong enough to use twice in one post? Did you copy and paste some of this, maybe? Also, you're an idiot and you don't know what's good for yourselves.
This would mean we can’t hire a freelance copywriter, if we already employ copywriters? Law was instituted in April, so agencies are either not complying or have found a loophole.
This is only for Independent Contractors (those using the 1099 form for taxes), if the agency is willing to bring you on as a temporary employee (on payroll, taxes withheld) then they can still use freelancers.
Sound like liberal hogwash: the government knows what’s best for you poor ignorant souls and it will force companies to comply, even if the poor ignorant souls know better and don’t want what the government is pushing. Sort of like liberal elites in NY deciding waitstaff should get paid $15/hr when they make far more at $2/hr plus tips. These poor ignorant souls just don’t know what’s good for themselves.

That’s not what this law means. It has to do with benefits and overtime pay.

"What do you mean their SD/LA/SF office is only a satellite? Shit, why are all of our advertising agencies relocating their headquarters (and taxable revenue) to Portland? We'd better make a new law to address this."
👆 yes, that.
@VP Creative Director: This is about taxes not about protecting “poor innocent workers” from being exploited or whatever weird connection you were making. Let’s face it, freelancers who say they are independent contractors are doing the same work but the state isn’t able to tax them as conveniently which limits government tax revenue. The poor innocents who are harmed aren’t the copywriters. They’re the homeless, the school children, the hospitals, the people who drive on the roads, and the folks who like clean beaches. I count myself among those people
What? Really?
What the what?!

@SAD2 why defend the government though? Everybody seems to agree this law is somewhat of an overreach
