New firm bills in .25 increments. Is this better, worse, or pretty much the same as .1?

That's how my current firm bills. Personally I find it a lot easier to manage then 6 minute increments.

It also cuts down on frivolous phone calls from clients if they know it's going to cost $50 for me to answer a silly question.

It’s better. If I read an email in three seconds, I get to bill it as .25 instead of .1. Back in my firm days, I loved cases that were .25 for that reason. Much more time billed overall!

like

I take the same approach as Associate 2. I have a case right now with lots of moving parts and a ton of emails/correspondence each day and the client is very strict against block billing. I end up billing soooooo many .1 entries for things that take much less than that actual time.

like

Way better, but less easy to do write-offs that don’t hurt and make the client feel happy.

like

Way better as a billling attorney. From a client perspective it may seem crappy, but if most of your bills are .1s, something may be wrong there….lol

like

I assume this is not insurance defense

funny

I’m a patent attorney:) But also, I have no idea what ID billing is like, other than hearing on here that it’s a bit…different.

Assuming everything rounds up I’m all for it. I’ve seen some people round down within certain thresholds and in those cases I’d be pissed.

Looking to get an Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti sometime this year. Brand new the MSRP is about 45K and despite the reputation of the old Alfa Romeo’s from the 90’s these seem to be night and day more reliable. Would you recommend buying new, leasing new, or buying used? If I bought used it would be anywhere from 2019-2021

Anyone know what the salary should be for a first year associate working at the biggest defense firm in Florida? I just got offered this month at a north Florida branch and not sure whether this is a good salary:
$80k
$12 per hour quarterly bonus after hitting 150 billable hours.

I’ve heard some defense associates have a set quarterly bonus it doesn’t seem to be the case at this firm.

Law students: good for you for tracking me, an alumna of the same school, down through my firm website! You’re doing exactly what you’re encouraged to do! Unfortunately, I’m barely keeping up with my workload as it is, so at best you’re lost in my inbox and at worst you’ve irritated me!

Also, our recruiting procedures are super strict, so the best I can do is forward your email to the right people. And we don’t hire 3Ls. Get some experience elsewhere, then try for Biglaw again in a few years.
