New from Australia - where do y’all get your fresh produce (eg vegetables, meat, seafood) from? Closest supermarket is Jewel Osco and produce there is not great to be honest. Any farmers markets? Thanks

For meat, I go to Boystown 🏳️‍🌈

Not sure where you’re located but I get all my meat products from Paulina’s Meat Market in Lakeview. Dirk’s in Lincoln Park is great for fresh seafood.

Produce is tough this time of year. there are farmers markets but they just ended.

what neighborhood are you in ?

i get my meat, seafood and poultry from Wild Fork. (limited frozen produce as well)

Yes, Green City moves indoors to Avondale but it’s not even close to the same. All of the other city markets have ended.

like

Marianos or fresh foods then. Welcome!

This is the way. I also like Trader Joe’s for some packaged salads and some veggies, though it’s more hit or miss than Mariano’s or Whole Foods. They have specialty frozen food and snacks that make up for it though.

Farmers markets from March to November, Trader Joe’s, or Whole Foods.

I should have also mentioned there’s a CSA opening in Uptown next year - local, sustainable produce … corner of Broadway & Wilson, forget the name

whole foods, mariano’s, misfits market, trader joe’s

logan square has the best farmers market but it’s over for the year.

We get fish shipped direct from small boats in Alaska via Sitka Salmon Shares. There are a few good CSAs for meat/dairy/produce although local produce is obviously tough this time of year. Take a look at Tomato Mountain Farm as one option.

More mainstream, I actually think Costco often has good produce but it's hit or miss in general at grocery stores.

We've been members since 2017 (I didn't actually realize that it had been that long -- just went back in my email to check) and have never had a delivery issue. They recently switched from their own delivery service for Chicago residents to UPS and all of our fish is still arriving totally frozen.

Upsides are that we always have a healthy, delicious protein in our freezer. Downside is that it's a lot of fish for two people and you need to learn some new recipes for white fish if you're not eating it often now.

We've never looked back, even as it's gotten pricier, but we realistically have the room in our budget and we cook at home nearly every night of the week.

Thanks all! Good vibes to y’all!!!

Mariano’s or Whole Foods are usually good.

There’s also Pete’s or Cermak that are good options.
