Titles are company/industry specific. Don’t be hung up on getting a job with a VP+ title. Look for postings based on years of experience. And leverage your network along with websites like levels.fyi to find out what titles mean at different companies.
Agree with this. Also salary bands are very blurry the higher up you go. So theoretically you could make more as a director/Sr. Director than you currently are as a VP.
Jobs at that level - or higher - are mostly personal references. You gotta network in your industry, go to conferences, get your name out there, speak on panels. Join local professionals groups that focus on bringing together VP level and above individuals for networking. That’s where you’ll find these jobs. Let people get to know you then put word out you’re looking to jump ship to a new company. Do not count on recruiters - generally they don’t place well for positions like that. It’s really all about your network. Or that’s what I’ve learned as a CEO.
