Any Aon pension actuaries who could help my friend understand the hierarchy of titles? Let’s say my friend has 10 years of experience, FSA and EA credentials, was a consistently high performer over his career, what would his expected title be at Aon within the core retirement actuarial business? Thanks in advance.

No. Invest. Time in the market beats timing the market every single time.
you need to look at recessions not as what you've "lost", but what you'll be be buying on sale. invest now and invest then. you'll buy high now and you'll buy at a discount later. don't fall for the fallacy that you (despite everyone else) is going to somehow time the market. set it and forget it - focus on work so when that recession comes, you'll be one of the ones still raking it in.
In January 2018, my husband and I put a bunch of savings into the market. We then felt like idiots when the bottom fell out two weeks later ... if we’d only waited!!
Flash forward to now, even with this current dip, and we’ve already made all the losses back and then some from buying right before the January “crash.” So yes, it would have been awesome if we waited two weeks in Jan. 2018, but we’ve already made it back. And if we had waited then because of whispers of a recession, who knows if we would have invested even by now.
Really appreciate the anecdote, that’s very helpful!
I know you can’t time a recession, but ideally I’d like to begin investing it while the markets are lower and not at a near peak
when you invest is less important than how often you invest. develop your discipline to invest even when it's uncomfortable. every month, steady amounts, and you'll be a millionaire.

What if it’s a high amount to invest, like 200-300k?
