New hire at post-MBA level in first consulting role (just finishing PhD). Would driving a Porsche to work be looked upon poorly? Upgrading to a 718, but don’t want to be the new hire people frown upon as too gaudy

You’re probably better than them anyways so might as well just show them.

CPO base, the 300 hp I test drove was more than enough for my enjoyment at $55k

Lol the question is, can you afford it? Don’t you have some PHD debt?

Don’t drive it to a client. Otherwise, no one cares.

No issue. You're probably already loaded from the PHD program 😂

Is it possible to have similar opportunities as MBB firms or do you have to work harder to get MBB-type opportunities?

For data science roles, senior (L6) at AWS or post MBA level (specialist track, so same pay as generalists) at MBB? Comp is 20% higher at AWS just to start. But maybe looks like MBB has better upside - solid path to promotion to manager level with solid comp increase. But worse WLB and it's unclear to me whether MBB data scientist on the resume is up to par with big tech data scientist on the resume. Coming from big 4 so I am considering brand so I can do better with future resume screens.

Unpopular opinion. I’m a young woman of color. I think we’re all focusing on race when it comes to violence in America when the issue is actually with men. Men of all colors have been terrorizing America yet everyone is arguing about white supremacy.

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power. I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about. However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?

We are considering staggering our leaves (I’d take a couple weeks right when the baby is born, then go back to work until her leave runs out, then go out) to save $$ on child care. Would also have a bit of family help during the first 4-6 weeks as well. Any experienced dads think this is a bad idea?

From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.
