New hire- I’m making my employer 401k match, and have money sitting around. Can I put a lump sum into a Roth IRA or something before the year ends?

You can contribute towards your Roth IRA till April 15. The maximum contribution can be $6000 but if your firm allows post-tax 401(k) contributions, then you can rollover that money to your Roth account. Roth IRA account can’t be funded with your savings or earnings on investments. The funding is through wages.

Yes, but we’re talking Roth IRAs. Not Roth or traditional 401(k)s.

Max out ESPP contribution if it’s an option (assuming there is a look back provision)

Is there time to max out 401k?

Will redirect funds to Roth IRA 😟

I save money and at end of year put in a traditional IRA, 48hrs backdoor it to a Roth IRA. Have never once been asked where this money came from, other than it is earned.

Considering leaving for another firm job, one year in. Thoughts? New position would be a better practice area fit and would only work with clients in the industry I want. Currently it’s about 60% of what I’d like. Also, current firm seems to be stagnating with low hours to go around. I’m worried about not making hours, missing my bonus, and low professional development. Comparable on prestige & exit options and would be $5k less. Just worried about burning bridges and leaving “too soon.”
