New Mama here! Just wanted to know how you ladies make busy season work! I’m not afraid to go on some kind of FWA but I also would like more flexibility with my hours

Communication is key. You have to set expectations and communicate them to your team. Let people around you know that you will be shifting you hours, or unable to work past a certain time... and people will most of the time work with you.
You will figure out how many hour you can put in now. Give it some time and wait for a routine. PA is bbn one of the most flexible fields out there. Good luck

I'm in tax. Other service lines may be different.
I wake up really early duuring season (4-4:30) and try to get myself, breakfasts, lunches, and maybe an hour of work before heading out the door. I leave the office at 5:30 everyday to pick up my kids. I log back in at 8 or 9 the latest (depends on workload and nigh night time event). I have a babysitter on Saturdays and hisband helps a lot.
Is it easy? No. Does it get harder as they grow? Yes.

I'm not sure if you have an overseas team, but I find working with our overseas team super helpful. No need to go into the office, they don't care when you work since they're working when you sleep at night anyway, and they can't judge you for working in sweatpants with no sleep. They're the best! (and great for the budget, whooo! )

Can someone legitimately explain to why bankers take so long to come up with LBO models on the financing side, and refuse to allow us to review them in detail? We provide preliminary feasibility analysis on loans on so many deals and the difference of what the bank comes up with is always minimal, but always takes a month? Can anyone walk me through what happens on the other side? It tends to be very frustrating.

I need some advice. Where does the accountability sit for determining resource allocation of engineers? For background, we’re working on a feature for a customer which has meant the team working on it have had to borrow engineers from another engineering squad to aid with build. I’m being asked by the engineering manager when she’s getting her engineers back. I feel like this is not something i should be deciding and asked she discuss it with her counterpart and head of engineering

Hi working moms at EY, when should I contact Limericks lactation consultant? Are they helpful? I have my doula and she also offers lactation but I’m not sure if I should also check Limericks. I’m 30 weeks pregnant. TIA!!

What is a useful, comprehensive but not too long of a book for parenting toddlers?

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. I’d like to be more proactive about toddler psychology, what’s to come and how to react/ teach. TY!

Looking for support & validation.
I’m divorced & have 2 boys, 6 & 4 yo. Last week I took the 6 yo for a pedicure and he chose blue nail polish, well aware that he didn’t have to choose any at all. FFW to this week. It’s a “boys weekend” (kids w/dad). Their grandad is also in town, since Wed. Dad has called to ask to have the boys in the evenings (i have W &Th, always). I have said “ok, but only if you don’t say anything negative about the polish.” So… they haven’t seen them. This hurts.

A different kind of working mom post:

Many of you have young kids... are there any moms of teens here?

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work

New country and new job, I want to ensure I save and invest money correctly. We need a car and soon enough our home, staying in a rental accommodation for now which is just enough for 2 of us. Any suggestions on talking to a financial planner, does that help? And any platform where we have financial planners to choose from?

I had hoped this formula shortage would be solved by now but every week I go to the store the shelves are mostly empty. How have new moms been getting by? I am due in a few weeks and nursing didn't work for me with my first. My milk never came in despite all the crazy hoops my lactation consultant had me due. Just feeling anxious about keeping a newborn fed with the shortage
