Remember, these are HUGE firms that will keep running if you left. Your kid only has 1 mom and that’s you. My new motto has been “be where my feet are”. It sounds silly but has been helping me focus on work at work and at home while at home. Second, keep networking when you have the chance. You need your executives to see you as present and engaged . For the team, keep supporting them on flexibility. Just because they don’t have kids shouldn’t mean they don’t get flexibility. As long as everyone is meeting their deadlines and the client is happy, who cares when and how the work is getting done?

Can you work from home?

Work from home and don’t worry about your co-workers. They can get over it. As long as your boss is ok with it. I struggled with same thing. My 18 month was in the hospital due to staph and co worker was upset I wasn’t at work. Son was in 3 days. She was the worst. I left company and guess where she is, alone and bitter.

Now that my wife is pregnant, I’ve been thinking about the discussions around abortion a lot more. Seeing how developed the ultrasounds are after about week 13, has me thinking that abortions past 15 weeks should be for certain cases only (medical for fetus or mother etc). My husband and I are expecting and both of us have moms diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD.) My dad passed away earlier this year and my FIL lives in Australia and is the nicest man. He’s just far away from us since we’re based in the NE. Does anyone have a nanny who brings their own child along either daily or fairly regularly? Do you pay a reduced rate if they have their child along? I’m not referring to situations like nanny is in a pinch and brings their own child along a few days here and there. I’ve seen nanny postings where they have a different rate w/ versus w/o bringing their children along but it’s varied wildly and I’m not sure how to calculate. Also, what has /has not worked well?

Does anyone else do breakfast/morning meetings at home and then come into the office at around 10/11? I’m a Deloitte alumni. The attached image is on brand. While there are pockets of excellence & collegial respect at D - overall, D culture is toxic, particularly for people of color, Black people, & non-binary people. So, if you fall in any one of those groups, & you are told/wondering if you are being “sensitive” or “overreacting” to what you’re seeing,hearing, & sensing-I can assure you that you aren’t. Get what you can from the firm (experiences/certs) & pivot to something better.
