$490 per week daycare, 1 child. D.C.
Free pre-school in D.C. (if you get in) for the other kid. COVID wrecked that (likely remote or home half the week)...so stealing a daycare worker to become the nanny at $15-$20 per hour (I have her locked in at $15 but will probably give her more on days with 2 kids...because that just seems fair). Pulling the younger one out of day care since the older one will be at home (not sure if that added up in my message^)
If you’re paying for a full time nanny or private school..
Montessori schools that take toddlers?
In Sweden I pay about $150/ month for all 4 kids for before & after school care
I pay less in taxes here than I did when I lived in the U.K. My kids also get free university, and a stipend whilst they’re studying. No understanding of what the situation is like in America, but I don’t mind paying my taxes here because I can easily see the value I receive for my tax contributions.
In the US yes that can be very average depending on the day care and your neighborhood of course
What a great way to control population
yes...countries you dont pay that much also doesn't let you earn 200k$ yearly...
There are rebates mate
Yes it is a lamborghini payment. But it only lasts a couple of years until they start school, so get used to it and then you’ll feel pretty good down the line when the expense vanishes and you can afford the lamborghini.
College ...
6-7k when 0-3 years old in Denmark, it is heavily subsidized by the government though.
Yes. Why? 🤪😭 It’s why we have two kids when we wanted more. And that was just preschool and a summer nanny - not private school.
Rising Star
In the US paying 4K a month for one child. I know someone with two and he pays 7k a month
I don’t even make 7k a month
15 years ago I paid $2500/month for 2 kids.
We pay ~45k per year between nanny and part time day school
I think my manager pays $2k/month to have child care and that's split with 1 more toddler. Washington DC is the location.

$2,600 per month for day care per kid in Manhattan. Some places ask for $3,000/m.
We’re about 38k a year for 4 and 2 year olds in private school
We had 2 kids going to daycare and we paid 48k per year.
Depends on how many kids you have. With 1 kid, we paid about 9k a year for full time daycare. We live in the south so things are a bit cheaper than the northeast.
It was a daycare facility. I live south of charlotte in a smaller town. That's the average price of the daycares in the area.
feels like a 1% question.
