Anyone here work at Wellington Management and is willing to chat with me about a Data Science / Quant role? Recruiter reached out and I’m considering whether I should interview for it. Currently work at a Global Macro Desk of a MM hedge fund (think Millennium, Balyasny, Pt72) and looking to understand more about firm culture, investment process, career prospects to the extent possible and comp. Thanks!

No idea what that pays but s3 is 128, 135 or 142 base depending on location
How long have you been there so far? I’m an incoming FAAS S2 and curious about how the onboarding process and work load has been so far!
Oh okay thanks for the insight! What have the hours looked like for you since transferring?
Assuming that “Transactions” is just core FAAS, I would personally do that. TAAG is very specific and technically obviously and CCASS (ESG) is still a newer practice so maybe some opportunities there. FO is pretty interesting too tho

The transaction group is mostly PMO work I think, although I SMs+ have good technical knowledge
Not really. We spend a lot of time creating financial models for carve, ppa, pro formas etc
Core faas is:
1) ECRA - debits/credits/policy
2) transaction support
3) Finance Optimization - data and tech
I’d say manager + align and get tapped into as SMRs based on experience. However - we don’t only do certain projects. Everyone including PPED is expected to have a book that is generalized.
Your alignment would also be generalized. You could be tapped into based on your experience in each type of project spread across the 3 clusters.
Also curious to what would provide good wlb as well. It feels like the deals one would be good for pay but have bad wlb?
I am looking for exit opp pay diff
TAAG is remote I heard

I'm in TAAG and yeah we are totally remote
Are they letting you choose?
I kind of see it as even if they prefer to have me on something else, I'll just network and support campaigns to get my foot in the projects that I am interested in
It’s not about that - if you don’t yet know what they are as S3, try to get exposure to a few that sounds interesting to you soon, and pick the ones that plays to your strength and aligns with your interests. You’re about to be a manager and you’ll want the opportunities that can lift you up. The practice is very supportive as long as you vocalize your interests. Exit opportunities/pay follows your performance
