Just stick with the 2060 trust.
The target date funds automatically diversify between domestic and international stocks and bonds. Adding other funds to "diversify" is just redundant.
Right now I'm 100% 2060 target date and have been since I started a little over a year ago. However, I've been considering shifting it all to S&P500 since returns seem much higher over the long run for A&P 500 vs target date. Can you talk me out of it? I feel like I'm throwing money away and don't need to diversify at all for another ~10 years
Fine. I go 100 percent sp500

The 500 index and total stock market are almost the same thing.
I am 100% in vanguard total market in my 401k (age 35).
I did 60% mid cap and 40% large cap in my Fidelity employer 401k.
Putting 1% in any fund won’t get you much
Don't use a target date funds. While it may seem convenient, it carries a higher fee ratio and worse returns.
What do I have that is a Target Date fund? Is it that last option?
It honestly depends on how old you are, your risk tolerance, and what investments your company has available to you. I’ve set the allocations for about 20 of my friends and they are all very happy with their returns. Feel free to message me if you would like to talk more.
