Just hang out
That sounds like every PMO ever
Well if you're PMO, start getting into the weeds of planning and budgeting (track budget, work with product and engineering to understand overall schedule of sprints etc).
@EY, thanks. Yes, I am in a PMO. I work with all leads to create a timeline, I am heavily involved with the engineering team to understand dependencies and any blockers, but honestly besides creating the overall schedule (product owner handles budget), I'm still not sure if my position is worth what we are charging.
I've been on this engagement two months and I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm feeling a little ostracized by the product owner, as if he knows this position doesn't really add much value to the project. Half of my duties feel administrative (creating meetings, booking rooms, building decks for executive reviews.) The product owner is involved in every aspect of the project already so there is no "new" information I can share with him that he doesn't know already. Thoughts?
Hang on and manage up!
Look busy!
OP, doesn't matter if you think you're worth the client's money, that was their call. Talk to the PO about getting involved with budgeting and process improvement initiatives with the dev/prod team to drive efficiencies.
Thanks all, appreciate your feedback.
