Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

Good point I am beginning to learn that the onus is on me to control my WLB otherwise the project managers are going to walk all over me.

You Deloitte?
The work will be there when you return in a few hours.

No, T2 firm
The time it takes for your Skype status to turn from green to yellow is the time you get to do what you want. Dinner? No problem, Marriage + Honeymoon? Go for it, want to explore mars with Elon Musk? Sure!
But if Skype goes yellow, you are not meeting the obligations of your role. So please apologise to your PM/PMD for even thinking about this. You have a bright future in consulting, don’t ruin it over trivial, useless, inconsequential matters like dinner with friends, holidays, weekends and WLB
This post made me realise life at Accenture is pretty great
That's where OP works. Lol, jk. I dunno.
Yea. You’ve seriously gotta set some boundaries. Because nobody gets paid enough to work that long

Any important dinners or events just let your manager know in advanced and should hopefully be good to make them. On a normal day you should have a “check out” with your team or manager to know what’s needed for that night. As an analyst you should never always be online. You may need to manage up and have better communication.

That’s D1, good to know what I should set as my boundaries and what realistic/unrealistic expectations look like
following to hear about the politics on this, because same. I have no problem saying “I’m stepping out to dinner I’ll be back online at x time” (either tonight or next morning), but what are the political ramifications for not working 24/7 with the rest of your team?
I go to the gym at 430 everyday lol
If you have insight to priority/urgency, I would play to that. I get requests after hours nonstop as well, and will answer with the urgency that the request demands. If it’s something that I know isn’t needed until next week, I have zero remorse not answering that email until the next day. If there is an executive steering committee tomorrow and a partner needs information for it at 8pm, you bet I’m answering that asap.
This is sad. You should have a life outside of work. Set boundaries
Out of curiosity do you get paid overtime for all these hours?
Hope they pay you well.
