New to KPMG- out of town at a client, how does claiming a per diem work? I've just been buying my meals with my corporate card

You can select to have that per diem expenses reimbursed to you or back on your corporate card. I always end up paying with a personal card because I get better points and then I just have the perdiem expensed back like a additional paycheck that goes towards paying off personal card and then I keep the difference.

like

Personal card for future 100%. If this was me, I would probably just put through the actuals at this point. However, you could add up all your meal charges from the buffer, not include them in your expense report, claim per diem, then make a payment from your bank account to diners to cover your meals and keep the difference.

like

You can pay however you want, but you claim The full amount of the per diem on your expenses. Whatever you don't spend is yours to keep.

like

Expense those meals when they come through the blotter...remaining take the money to yourself by claiming per diem in the expense entry (create a separate expense) category. What i usually do is charge all to personal, and just claim whatever the total per diem is to myself --all in all same thing but, just simpler

like

K2 said it best. Remit the full per diem to your personal account, then make a payment to DC directly (via the DC website) from your personal account in the total amount you actually charged for those same meals. E.g., you spent $60 total on meals but the per diem allotment was $100. Remit $100 to your personal account then go to DC website and make a $60 payment to cover the meal charges

like

This is assuming none of your meal charges were group meals

like

Actuals means your charge on your corporate credit card. Take the daily x amount of days = total per-diem. Since, you already charged to corporate --subtract this from total per diem above. Also, remainder is what u should claim for per-diem. Ask someone on your team or PML to explain! Happy to help you if u need anything further--let me know

like

Ok I finally got it. Thanks everyone! My PML also confirmed all of this 😁

like

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses! Think I'm gonna go with the personal card in the future. For this time though, since I paid for everything with my corporate card how should I go about keeping the difference?

@K2 none of my meals were group meals. Also, what do you mean put through the actuals?

@M1 thanks! So I should only claim the remainder as per diem (remit to me) and whatever the actual was as Meals (remit to corporate) ? How do I know what the actual was if I don't have all the receipts?

I would use a card that has more points at restaurants.

If you use the DC then you forfeit the difference between what you paid and the per diem amount. Claiming the difference is out of policy.

Philosophical question (not trying to be political, just a genuine question I’ve been grappling with): do you think being pro-choice and pro-vax mandate are logically inconsistent? Both are sincere views of mine, but upon further reflection I haven’t been able to think of a way one position could be completely defended without undermining the other. Goes the other way for pro life/against vax mandates as well. The fact is, they just feel different to me, but I’m not sure why. Thoughts?

Got signed off from work a couple of weeks back due to work related stress (severe anxiety). I was the lead on a multi million pound project and the stress got to me. Firm was supportive. Any thoughts on whether thats a step too far? Should i return to office full time before handing in my 3 month notice
