Hi Fishers, I want to pivot my career into management consultant. I am currently working as a Market research analyst with 1 YOE. Can someone please suggest me how or where should I start to build my career in management consulting at Big 4.
Also, please suggest entry level jobs that I will be eligible for with skills in Strategy, primary and secondary research, and competitor analysis.
Thanks in advance!

I can already tell you're Chinese or Indian or something
I can already tell you’re a white male or something
You're learning. Don't be so hard on yourself.
No.
Ruthless fuqers on here. OP - do you man. Dont let the noise get to you. Mistakes will be made trust me, 4th year and I can tell you it wont be all sunshine and rainbows. Just make sure if you do make an easy mistake you learn from it and it doesnt happen again. People expect you to make mistakes. Learn from them and move on
I can already tell you're a liberal or something
I think you should be fine. Staff all make mistakes. Hopefully you're not making "stupid" mistakes (not spellchecking, inconsistent formatting, inconsistent application of formulas, forgetting to foot and cross foot, etc...). These "stupid" mistakes have nothing to do with technical abilities and just show forgetfulness or laziness, so there's not a lot of tolerance for them. If you're mistakes, however, are related to the technical side (you applied guidance incorrectly, you're working on a new area and overlooked a consideration, etc...) then it's not a big deal and managers are expecting it.
Mger 1 its a mix of normal and stupid mistakes. I'm fucked right?
As long as you learn, don't make it norm, it's good. Everyone makes mistakes. Don't let comments bother you
And people who'll give you toughest review notes are ones who'll have your back everywhere
Op don't feel discouraged remember there is always a learning curve. I used to make what seemed like the dumbest mistakes to the point where I thought my team didn't like me but I ended up with a 4. Mistakes happen. Own them, learn from them, and try not to make the same ones again :)
As long as you learn from the mistakes, don't worry! Managers usually just want to see growth. If you can turn a mess up into a learning experience, you're good. Don't make the same mistakes again. And do ask questions, show you understand the bigger picture. Tie these feedback discussions into other areas you will be working on so you can be proactive in not making mistakes in these subjects as well.
Everyone goes through that. If they think they don't, no one took time to share it with them. There's a learning curve to everything. Give it your best and you'll be more than fine.

Depends how egregious the mistakes are and what level you're at. If you're a staff and making the same mistakes that every staff makes then not an issue. If you're at a higher level and making mistakes that are uncharacteristic for that level you could have issues.
I'm a staff that has been with the firm for almost a month now...
If you can't cut down on the stupid mistakes then that could be an issue come review time. If you can eliminate those mistakes and learn from your other mistakes (take review notes to heart and be mindful of the mistakes so you're not continuously making the same mistakes), then you'll be fine. Obviously making the same mistakes over and over again and not remedying them is going to be a performance issue.
So fired
Memories are short man, you'll be fine
