Hi All,
I’m the organizer of the event Hike 4 The Culture. The event takes place in the Chicago market and on Juneteenth.
Black Millennials in Chicago will participate in a hike to promote mental and physical wellness. All while experiencing music, guided meditations and community. The experience will also host yoga as an added boost of clarity.
We’re looking to partner with health and wellness brands and offer different levels for sponsorship. For more information email alicia.brown@theurbankey.com

Lakeview is a wasteland of bros and crowded bars
Rosco and Lincoln square, ravenswood, etc are cozy. You’ll be getting the edges of bro-hood, and strollers will run you off the sidewalks (I kid) but they are all good spots. And the brown line is easy to get to the loop.
I live in West Lakeview. I'm walking distance to Southport Corridor, Roscoe Village, Lincoln Square and Wrigley Field. I'm about a 7 minute drive to Andersonville. There are a couple decent restaurants in Roscoe Village but I prefer Southport Corridor or Lincoln Square. You can take the Brown Line into city. If work in the loop, it might be faster to switch to the Red Line at Belmont. Traffic and commuting suck on game days. No way around it. If you're far enough west, parking is less of an issue.
😬😬😬. Same for roscoe village??
Don’t live in Wrigleyville. Pick a spot within halfish mile radius near the brown line between Southport and Damen. It’s a great area with a lot of character, family friendly, nightlife, good places to eat, live music, and bars; most within walking distance. Brown line is usually one of the cleanest and safest lines too. Red line in the AM may be quicker as previously stated though since it has less stops, but depends on which way around the loop you want to ride.
Lived in Roscoe Village/North Center and loved it. I think your choice depends on what kind of neighb you’re looking for. It’s quiet/cozy. I actually knew my neighbors for the first time in eight years living in the city. If you live near the brown line, the commute’s easy. Sure the brown line is slow, but you’ll probably get a seat and it’s pretty direct to anywhere in the loop.
Go to Logan square - take blue line downtown in 30 mins or under
Roscoe Village is very nice but not super convenient to the El. I’ve found it be faster to take a bus to the blue line than taking the brown line. Commute is around 45 min (which includes lots of walking)
I used to live on edge of NorthCenter/Roscoe Village (Damen and Addison). I liked it in that area, but it is fairly family oriented- not sure what stage of life you are in. It took me usually 45 mins or so to take the brown line from Addison to the Merchandise Mart.
It's the best area, IMO. Been living within walking distance to either the Paulina or Addison brown line stop for 15 years. You won't regret it.
Pick a spot within walking distance of the Paulina or Southport brown line stops. Transfer to red at Belmont.
Roscoe village is one of my favorite neighborhoods. It’s a little quieter and more family oriented, which I love, but often is a little more of a walk to the brown line (estimates cited here are accurate) - just make sure to google map your commute and you should have a good sense of the walk vs el needs!
One thing to beware of - the brown line has a ton of stops that are close together and pretty dang old infrastructure. So it’s sloooow. To boot, it’s not 24-hours (although the red line, an option in Lakeview, is.)
I absolutely love roscoe village! Commute is a tad longer if you are not near a brown line stop and use the bus to get to the train, but still not bad. Super quiet. Very safe. And it’s the best of both worlds with village feels (obviously with the namesake) and the city
I feel like your age might make a difference. The Southport corridor is great regardless, but if you’re like fresh out of college or something you might really like the north end of Lincoln Park, lakeview east, or even wrigleyville.
Don’t be a square. Move to Logan Square and take blue line to loop in under 30 mins.
