I converted. Money is not as good. 40 hour work weeks. Paid furloughs. Your motivation is serving your country and defending freedom. Must be able to move around to get promoted. I miss being around the latest technology.
Often hard to move from consulting to government because of ethics
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I’d think more challenging. Fed agencies use SO many contractors, but the number of Fed positions doesn’t grow much. In commercial, when you really look at how many people are in a functional delivery capability (not too many) and the number of Corp roles everywhere, I’d think it’s easier. Plus a lot of senior govt roles
are filled by political appointees from previous admins.
If the client likes you and if you’re a veteran it’s pretty easy to get into civil service because of the hiring preference.
Your long term earnings potential will take a hit though. Plus you have to worry about shut downs, furloughs, canceled pay raises, etc
New-hire consultants are a blessing here. It is very hard to staff entry level positions in the government. PM if want to talk in detail.
