WFH today and answered a conference call while taking a shit. Accidentally had the video on.
My shop got back to the office and whenever we have a client/vendor call and they are all still remote I feel so embarrassed to be dialing in from a room full of people. Just make us look like morons.
New AC currently doing internal work. While I understand it’s good to be seen around the office, would I leave a negative impression if I WFH until 2022 due to worsening covid situation and Christmas?
Zoom WFH secrets: No one has figured out yet the big black box thing in the background of my home office is where hubby dries and trims his pot plants.
I need a side job that I can work evenings and/or weekends that can generate at least $1000 extra dollars a month. I was thinking real estate but I know nothing about it… then I thought bartending but again, I know nothing about it… I don’t want to spend more than 20 hours per week working this side job and if it is remote AND contract, that would be great. Any advice?
Why aren't policies like one-remote-week-per-month more common? Wouldn't that drastically reduce burn out?
(US-based question) If you work in your firm’s NYC office but live in NJ, do you pay NYC city taxes? Any obligation to pay any NY taxes? Or federal + NJ state? How does remote work factor in? And side question: If you’re based in NY but live in Florida for a few weeks, does that save you some state taxes for those weeks? Or is there a cut-off number of days?
Been working remote since the beginning of the pandemic. Back in the office in January and trying to finalize childcare. Recruiters connecting with me for new job opportunities. Scared to even consider a shift out of my current company where I may have some flexibility bc I've been there for so long, but they're dragging their feet with giving me a well deserved raise. So unsure what to do. Shift now, or cont to negotiate $ at current job or hit the road and let the childcare figure itself out.

I will be moving to LA next year. I saw a condo in Arlington Heights on Zillow. Is that a bad neighborhood? My SO WFH and I will be commuting near The Grove for work a few times a week. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3204-12-W-16th-Pl-Los-Angeles-CA-90019/2067811788_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare
Does anyone else NOT like WFH? If I see another “omgggg I’m in like such a good place wfh I have more time with my cat and children and I do yoga 24/7” post I’m gonna lose it. I miss people and travel.
The number of posts about bras and not having to wear them while WFH tells me there’s a big pain point and business opp’ty ladies: who wants to launch the next Unicorn company and revolutionize bras?
Looking for honest opinions: why does everyone seem to hate Deloitte? I’m an experienced hire who joined Deloitte this year. Things have felt pretty normal so far, but I want to be sure my eyes are open. I’ve been told to buckle up once covid/WFH is over the culture will revert back to the way it was. I don’t scare easily and information is power. Thanks in advance!
Does anyone else feel like this pandemic has helped level out the playing field between working moms and everyone else? Although the beginning of the pandemic was a nightmare with no access to childcare, continuing to be able to work from home has provided me with the opportunity to advance my career, where I could not before because of the time constraints of my commute and getting home to relieve my childcare. Am I alone in feeling this way?
Do FAANG companies have rankings within eachother? Ex: is Google >> FB >> Nflix? Or does it not really matter
LinkedIn sales strategy and operations associate interview coming up. Does anyone have any insight on the excel/sql assessment? What are the types of questions and what are they testing for?
How much do you contribute to your 401K? I’m 24 and have a separate IRA, plus some mutual fund accounts, and while I want to contribute to my 401K at my new job the extra money that would be taken out could go to one of the accounts I already have plus my new living expenses. What would you suggest in this situation ?
Starting mba in the fall. Should I keep working until July/august in hopes voluntary layoffs with severance start or stop working in June (which was the original plan)?
My manager repeatedly makes jokes about my age to the client (were you even born/ oh it was before your time/ too young to know that). Client is now making jokes as well... Suggestions to reduce it?
Creatives, do you ever get tired of life being one big group project? Has anybody switched to another department or job where you don’t have to be attached at the hip to your partner?
Serious question: how difficult is it to get straight up fired from big 4? Outside the layoffs last year, I have personally never seen anyone let go for any reason. There's always some PIP or transferring projects or some long review process that never goes anywhere. Anyone have any insight or stories? Just looking for some perspective.
Booked stay w points on Marriott, still being charged the bs “destination fee.” Anyone have luck getting this waived? Some of the benefits are a part of platinum status anyway
God. There is one other black person on the project (which is a miracle in itself), however the partners and directors only seem to have capacity to remember one guys name. My name is now Michael.
Interested in applying for an MBA program, and have seen the class profiles, but I’m still unsure. Started off as an engineer and left for consulting before moving to product at AWS. Is this kind of combination the norm for applicants these days?
What's the culture like at Accenture FS? Was at pwc public but got out around the time they turned into Guidehouse. Recruiter contacted me, should I leave my cushy no name company job?
Any thoughts on Manhattan beach or hermosa beach for a single 29 Male - have the option of moving out west and San Diego and LA are on my mind. Love being outdoors (road biking, running, would love to pickup surfing & volleyball), enjoy nice restaurants, meeting new people, etc. I won’t know anyone in either city so hopefully it’s not impossible to make friends 😬
Best companies for benefits? Parental leave policies, work life balance, medical, employer matching, etc.
