Grind away. Latch a lot of blue butterflies. If you are really desperate you can make your own spider island.

Catch rare fish & bugs. Mine rocks for gold. Sell hot items of the day to Nooks cranny (if you are far along enough to have a store). Visit other islands using nook miles tickets. If you charm the guy at the airport he will send you to islands that have lots of rare/expensive bugs (like tarantula island). Catch a whole pockets full of those and that's big bucks. Plant fruit native to other islands and harvest the fruit every few days. Nook pays big for non native fruits like coconuts, apples, pears, cherries, oranges, peaches
You gotta have money to make money. If you’re not doing the stalk market yet with turnips, then you’re stuck with the old fashioned money making methods of catching bugs and fishing fish. Some fish will pull in big money like the golden trout, oarfish, or coelacanth. Generally speaking these are very low probability fish, whereas I think bugs go much more quickly and you can “net” bugs that sell in the 2k - 2.5k range very frequently. I would recommend transplanting a bunch of flowers close to your house, like 60+ flower plants. Then what I would do is run 2-3 screens away and then come back to check to see if any high valued bugs appear like mantis, orchid mantis, peacock butterfly, Madagascan sunset moth, rajah wing butterfly etc. if you’re diligent, an average hour will get you ~120k - 200k, more of you have flick visiting your island and you sell to him at +50% more. Fish should alternatively be sold to CJ for +50%, but it’s only on the days they visit. When catching bugs, make sure you walk over things like stink bug, ladybug, and honeybee to make they fly away. It’s a waste of time and resources to catch these. Only use your charges on your net for things like paper kite butterfly (800 bells each) and above. Then when you go to sell your inventory of bugs, just buy 3 flimsy nets for your next fill up. Not worth the time to craft new or get resources. You’re going to be making bells faster than what it’s worth to get 15 sticks and craft new nets. This is good for starting out, then I would save up your first million bells doing this then just dump it into stalk market every week.
Thanks for the great tips everyone! Looks I’m going need to up my game plan from what I’ve been doing.
