My cramps were like that as a teen and they put me on Yaz. It cleared up my skin and now I only need 2 Advil liquid gels on the first day. I’m on the generic of Yaz now: Nikki, Vestura.
I don’t think you can delete the post, but no one here is going to judge you for this post. Also, the only thing I can recommend is a heating pad! Good luck!
Midol. All the midol.
I use a period product that reduces cramps (Flex). I also take Midol and wear one of those heating things (that people use for back pains) on my stomach. I drink a lot of water and I work out in the mornings. Between all that, I’m usually fine
I second the recommendation for Yaz. I have been on it for most of the last 16 years and really can't function during my period without it due to horrible cramps.
With it, my period is barely noticeable. A bit of cramping the first day that usually don't even require advil.
Isn’t there a lawsuit out for Yaz due to its extreme issues with causing strokes? Be careful what BC you go on. I am on a generic brand right now and hardly get any cramps and I used to get them pretty bad.
I used to take a day off every month, I was on the Nuvaring. Discovered I have Endo and PMDD, all the goodies. Two MD recommendations:
Start taking prescription Naproxen the day or two before cramps should begin. Don’t use tons of Aleve, it will destroy your stomach lining and give you acid reflux 🙋♀️
Skip your period (if it’s Endo) for two months, then allow the third. I can’t TELL you how helpful that’s been. I can actually show up at work, even on that one miserable day. Apparently skipping your period can mean less scarring and less interference with fertility.
I would also ask for Xanax, for the truly horrible days. Hope that helps! 💜
Are you on birth control?
EY1: No worries! I definitely didn't think you were judging me. I just wasn't sure about publicly stating medical stuff 👍
Audit Associate 1: Though it doesn't work well enough on its own (esp the first day or 2), Aunt Flo's supplements help me a lot when they've had a day or two to kick in. I think the Aunt Flo's combined with all of y'all's wonderful advice is going to be the answer.
Thank all y'all so much!!!
Usually get it from Whole Foods
Have you thought about trying CBD as well? Industrial hemp based (so no THC that makes you high) so it’s not illegal. I use the patch below in combination with some of the remedies others have mentioned above

I had the worst periods ever and was put on Yaz which helped lighten periods and made my skin amazing! Unfortunately I still had some side effects - period came at random times like every 2 weeks and would randy be heavy. I got the Mirena IUD and honestly it was he best decision ever. I get my period for maybe 1 day with light cramps and don’t have to remember to take a pill, I barely wear tampons/pads, and cramps are so bearable! Good luck!
So sorry to hear about the struggle with your period. One thing that has helped me is visiting my chiropractor for regular treatments. He does pelvic alignments, which for me, has near eliminated the bloating, nausea and cramps I used to have. It might be an option for you to try if you want to go with a treatment option that involves less medication. Overall, it’s good for people in our field to go and get adjustments because our jobs involve so much sitting throughout the day
I have very bad cramps every month and I recently found drinking coconut juice before period really helps. Potassium really helps with cramps !
Painkillers and that's basically it. If you're having such bad cramps that its affecting your ability to work, you should probably go see a doctor and see if they can try and source why and/or consider going on a medication to help? I used to have really bad ones because of untreated pcos and just thought it was normal, but it's usually not.
Thank y'all!
So I should probably have added a bit more background:
I get the "oxycodone kinda takes the edge off" type of cramps 😖
Bless you, KPMG1 🙏🙏🙏
Happy to help 😊
