The partner/lead atty on the case hasn’t even shown up yet. So we’re all scrambling to log in and get our case ready when we thought we had all morning to finish preparing. We informed the Court of the mistake but, when the partner finally showed about 10 mins later, they agreed to just go ahead with the trial rather than wait til 1:30. So I gave a very shaky opening statement. It was like one of those bad dreams where you’re late for an important test or class... and it was happening in real life. Anyway, not looking for advice or anything, just venting after a morning full of minor heart attacks. Be prepared, early!
Since your story does not involve a cat filter or you informing the court that you are in fact not a cat, I do not think that it went as bad as it could. #silverlining
Touché. 😅
Wait so why was the other side there if the court said trial started at 1:30
Good question. Apparently they got a zoom link on Friday that said “9 am Monday,” and we did not.
What kind of trial? If you were planning on finishing prep day of, sounds like a small claim.
Defending against a 100k creditor’s claim. But as I said in response to a comment above, we were ready last week and then we got an SJ ruling on Friday that had us scrambling at the last minute to make changes. Or maybe it was just me who was scrambling, because this is only the second trial I’ve been involved in and have no idea what I’m doing. 🙃
How’s it going?
Well, at least we started on time on the second day! Despite the initial hiccups, I kind of enjoyed doing a trial over Zoom. Thanks for checking in!
