I’m a liberal arts graduate with little to no quantitative skills (a few Econ classes in college), 2.5 YOE doing compliance & regulation related work. I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to pivot into finance/financial consulting (valuations maybe) and then get an MBA about 5-6 years down the line to go into strategy consulting. What kind of quantitative skills should I try to develop in my spare time to transition to a finance related role? Accounting? Financial modeling? TIA!

Considering searching for a new job but I also want to have my second child next year. I’m afraid if I wait until after that I’ll be outside the window for my experience level. But I don’t want to screw myself over by not being eligible for FMLA. Do I need to jump ship now so I’ll be somewhere for a full year?
