No billable work

I’ve had full days but I’m having some ZERO billable days lately (1-3 days). We outsource our discovery work and it’s been slow for me. My colleagues seem to stay busy with other things… I obviously told the partners I can take more work. I’m worried. What do you do?

If Donald trump works from Trump Tower two days a week, is he remote and WFH? As his client, I am not ok with that since his billable rate is really high.

So I found out that at my new firm there is an associates committee, who is also made aware of your progress on your billable hours. Why? What’s the purpose of the associates committee?

Advice needed. I HATE billable hours but recruiters are clamoring to have me apply to open positions in my field at larger firms. I'm at a boutique firm in CA now (real estate, municipal law) and have been here about one year. 7th year attorney. Do I pursue these options? I also have two interviews to work for government agencies (no billable hours). Also would be open to in-house counsel roles. PLEASE HELP! I’m a first year commercial litigation associate at a boutique firm. I am deciding between two offers. One is to go in-house paying roughly the same as I make now. The second offer is from big law as a commercial real estate associate, paying double.
