What’s the most strategic exit you can make when getting a new job? I want to roll off my project and just say I am looking for a new project and just never take a new one... (sounds terrible I know) My current project contract is about to be over and a lot of people are using it as an opportunity to roll off even though they’re prolly gonna renew it. Start date for my new job is negotiable so I really want to collect as many checks and stack PTO as much as I can. Deloitte Accenture EY PwC Boston Consulting Group Accenture
Who is doing a Christmas/holiday party or other client appreciation event this year? My partner and I are struggling with what to do given Covid.
When you’re comparing offers how you put a value against benefits like vacation allowance? Just calculate the value of a paid day as a % of base?
First time on the bench in five years and I want to draw it out. Any tips? Book PTO every other week?
People in luxury buildings - do you also give a holiday gift to the rest of the staff? I’m mainly talking the people who may come in to fix things or for example the guy who mops the lobby every few days?
What agencies have flexible time off??
Looking to take some PTO in Quebec City. Restaurant, bnb, activity recommendations? Thanks!
Have seen a lot of negative about Trump lately. Don't forget, if it wasn't for him, Juneteenth would still be an ignored holiday.
Vacation Question- Westin vs W (Paris)?
How much time off is appropriate to take off for a wedding? I want to take 3 days off on either side of my wedding (6 days total), plus a week the next month (7 days total) for my honeymoon.
If you bought ADO additional time off and quit before you use it do you get it paid back?
Does anyone else feel as though they ought to either (1) quit your job or (2) cry when senior folks in your department boast somehow (or complain) they’ve not taken a week+ long vacation in two years?
I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?
Just got back from 2 week long PTO and the only emails in my inbox are the mass corporate ones... Did I get fired without knowing it? Lol
Debating on investing on our first rental property. We were initially thinking about a rental in our area code (northern virginia) but all ideas/threads on here seem to indicate renting a beach front property on airbnb would be a win-win. Get mortgage covered over the summer and use it as a vacation home during winter. Is it that straightforward, what are we missing? Any reasons why we should not invest in a beachfront and instead stick to original plan? Tia!
Talent Acquisition teams: Are you all swamped and behind in your ATS processing right now? Asking as several colleagues and friends are actively submitting REFERRED applications for well-matched roles--but not hearing anything from HR. Is the need for talent real or is it overblown in the media? Or are a lot of TA people simply drowning at work or out on vacation right now? Tx for sharing if you are able! I'd like to give people some hope!
Flexibility and unlimited vacation!
How much did you spend per person on holiday gifts this year? Curious what most people are doing. Talking to friends I feel cheap. Although I’m a proud miser and don’t care, I’m just curious.
I have an offer from MBB at my MBA program but I’d lose my sponsorship with LEK if accepted (they won’t match it). Interviewed for exposure. How easy would it be to lateral to MBB after I put in 2 post-years with LEK? Are the cases a little more relaxed then? The FOMO😖
Anyone have an au pair and do the dependent reimbursement account? I don’t know how to do the reimbursement form. We pay her a stipend every week but also paid agency fees.
Hey team requesting help with evaluating exit ops: 1.) Corp Dev role (VP). 200 base, 22% bonus and some bps of fully diluted float. Comes out to ~100k annually at current valuation. Not sure I’m 100% sold on the company growth opportunity...sleepy company / industry 2.) manager level at MBB. Dream job of sorts. Something approximating 200 /20% bonus. Opens a lot of doors long term. In short, trading near term upside for prospect of something better. Thoughts?
Has anyone made the jump to FP&A? If so, can you please comment what interview questions you were asked?
Ended a 75 hr week with my birthday today. Wife just told me we're officially expecting our first. Yay!
Just clogged my toilet. How many points?
CONSULTING to INDUSTRY? Folks, after 9 years in Tech and Mgmt Consulting in same company, with exposure of working across many geographies, about to become a Manager in Dec, I have got an offer from an ex client to help them with their Digital Transformation in their Digital/IT dept. - and the position is in Europe, and money is absolutely no comparison to what I make here in India, its TREMENDOUS. My core team in current org left last year. Now this opp has come. Should I move?
Hi Fishies - have a bet with friend: what is the avg base salary of someone in BCG who is 2-3 years out of MBA (e.g project leader)? Does it exceed $250k base?
Was invited to apply for a lateral in another group at my company - transactional (I’m in lit now). I have a lot of experience in what I do now and am getting good development opportunities within my group. However, I’ve been passed over for a deserved promotion 3 times and am doing work two salary bands above where I am now. I enjoy the transactional work even though I have less experience in it, and it would be a great resume builder. I am not great with risk taking/change. Wwyd?
What are some of your favorite Breastfeeding friendly work clothes?? Trying to balance warmth for winter and functionality...style too but given covid wfh am less concerned with looking super nice.
My wife and I would like to retire at age 50 (or earlier). We’re in our early 30s. We’ve been maxing out 401ks and IRAs for years and started contributing 20k a year into a taxable account to start filling the gap since we can’t access 401k until 55. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.
Looks like my credits score/history is screwed as I was away from US for 3 years. I have no loans and only 1 credit card. They couldn’t increase the limit beyond 6K. What do I need to do to come back in the good books?
Any insight from those of you who have gone through the interview process at PwC (specifically for a Senior Manager or higher position)? Specifically curious about how many rounds of interviews you had, how long it took from initial contact to result/offer, and any other tidbits that might be helpful.
Considering an exit opportunity at a higher level + much higher salary with comparable benefits to Deloitte in everything except parental leave which is 8 weeks followed by short term disability.
Hi, Consulting Moms! I need advice - I am leaving industry to return to consulting. I have offers from KPMG and Deloitte, and we are looking to start a family ASAP (we have been actively trying and I have a feeling it would be just my luck to start a new job and find out I’m pregnant). Would love your insight around personal experience with hours per week, work-life balance, culture, etc. Offers are same level/role/scope (Change Management / Transformation / Human Capital) and same salary. TY!
Tricare insurance claims auditors. Who are they? Who are they accountable to? I am fighting some claims against them.
Should you ever negotiate salary during an interview, if asked? Or just say you expect a strong market offer and wait for their details after HR contacts you after the interview?
