No joke. I just found out one of our ADs takes his Apple monitor home when he decides to WFH because working off his laptop is annoying. I mean, isn’t that why you have a desk...

Sounds like they are doing the right thing

Does he actually DO the work? If so, who cares if he carries the big monitor around?

You sound like a miserable person to be around. Quit your kvetching.

Maybe the attitudes of people at the agency is exhausting and they want to get their work done in peace

“Doesn’t sit right”...They’re probably wfh to get away from you

I agree it’s weird, but so are most creatives. I’m glad my team judges me by what I produce and not my weird mannerisms and methods

Why does it matter why he works from home? And how do you know he isn't sick but just isn't telling anyone?

like

Why do you have to be sick or have an excuse to work from home? WTF is wrong with people

like

Just because he didn’t share his reason with you doesn’t mean there isn’t one. His reason could be to get as far from you as possible. But that would be pure speculation on my part.

likefunny

Let him get in his zone. Stay in yours. All will be good

like

Ha let’s not get started on what some of my colleagues get away with but, if the company supplied it to him then he can do that.

Sometimes when I am not physically sick but mentally not there, I decide to work from home. I get my stuff done so what's the problem? I feel you AD with the heavy monitor 👋 that's some heavy dedication right there.

like

Working from a laptop is annoying... but taking your monitor home is crazy! If it was me, I’d just buy one. As long as the work is done and not falling on anyone else, then lug away.

like

Do other people take them home? Serious question. CD2 - barely. Deadlines are missed and I just don’t see the reason behind hauling it around, but apparently that’s just me

like

Taking your monitor home: WEIRD. Working from home: NOT WEIRD. Who cares as long as you get the work done? Also, a change of scenery sometimes helps with coming up with ideas. @OP your AD should just buy a monitor for home. There are a ton of 4K monitors out there that are much cheaper and less antiquated than the Apple monitor.

Husband Relies on Me for Lunch - I know this is dumb, but before the pandemic, my husband ate lunch at the office and I was generally in charge of dinner. He’s super flexible with buying takeout so I never found it annoying. Since the pandemic began though, my husband has begun relying on me to provide him lunch while WFH. I’m busy during the day, and we have different lunch preference schedules. He does not get how annoying it is to me to have to be in charge of his lunch. Am I in the wrong?

I went back to the office this month (3/4 days per week) and it’s been a positive experience. Plus it seems that some partners who are going in appreciated it. But the office is a 15 min drive away for me. Some people need to commute an hour plus to be there. Will they be at a disadvantage if they actually try to take advantage of hybrid WFH in the future?

I’m a 2nd year civil litigation associate at a mid-sized firm in south Florida. My dream has always been to go in house but was dissuaded by law school professors telling me not to. I’m at a crossroads now because I’m OVER the billing, but my boss and direct team is quite possibly the most amazing and supportive group. My boss is always willing to let us work remote or take vacations. My question is, is the grass greener on the other side? Should I go in house now or wait another 3 years?

Back in the day, I did my own PR, sales & marketing for whatever business idea I was running with at the time. What’s a good remote sales opportunity I can do anywhere in the world that won’t be painful or too high touch? Where I can use my social & business skills (markets, law, cloud, publishing, media, logistics, algos, social media, books, ebooks, design, podcasting, marketing, press release writing, voiceover, journalism) to earn a few extra shillings?

As much as I loved the chaos and having him around the last 3 months, it’s not forever sustainable. But now I feel guilty for working and not trying to make it work with all of us at home. Just venting as I am sad that this is time is ending.
