No matter how much positive feedback and reassurance I get, I constantly feel like the most incompetent first-year ever. Love the work and big4 but can't get over my fear of messing up & getting fired

In my first month , my manager lost his cool cause I was doing shit work. Fast forward 2.5 years, he left firm after senior manager, I hang with him and his family, 5 rated and kicking more ass as senior than managers are doing.

I still mess up. But I'm only human and people around me know that. Don't worry about making mistakes, just don't repeat it 3rd time. And sit back and cemjoy the ride

The unemployment rate for accountants is less than 2%. Take a deep breath and keep a week or two of PTO in the bank.

I don't think I outgrew that feeling until my 2nd-year senior year. But your line of work might be different. Might take you until manager!

Hopefully not. But yes, it's normal to feel that way in the beginning.

Look at it this way. Worst case scenario is you get fired and things will be fine. I promise. Break the habit of worrying about it now - i know several managers/senior managers who would enjoy their lives and their jobs if they didn't have that constant anxiety ruining it.

Then it's time to leave before they fire you!

Suppose your work for employer A. You get a job with employer B who files you H1-B transfer and you get fired by employer A before the transfer is approved. Does that have any effect on transfer?

Hi everyone, share your blindsided layoff stories below so I can feel a little bit better about mine.

Covered a managers meeting for her yesterday, was with some senior members of the marketing team. A director opens the call with “we are so sorry about the impacts the layoffs have had on your teams today…” then noticed I was in the call and said “we are still notifying others so best to keep it under the radar” …25% of my team was let go three hours later with no warning😬

Hey all, ~7 years I've been working with fixed income analytics (duration, spread, etc) and perf attribution for institutional inv mgmt firm with close to $400B aum.

I'm being laid off in a couple months. Should I say I'm being laid off in interviews? Or is that a negative? I get severance if I stay the whole time so ideally I can time it. Have finance degree, CFA charter.

Most of work has been IG, but also some HY, EM and equity. Want to go into equity research/PM- worried I'm pigeonholed

Hi fishes,
Has coforge fired any employees in 2022?

Anyone here familiar with the hiring process of KPMG consulting in Van? Had a partner interview on Nov 21, thought the feedback was positive but haven't heard back yet (no rejection/offer). Is it something normal or the interview just didn't go as well as I thought?

It's an experienced hire for an SC role. I saw the posting is still open atm, and my guess is that the recruiting team is comparing candidates since competition is higher due to recent layoffs.

Thanks in advance!

Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. For context I’ve been in company less than a year and there are people who have been in the company 25yrs. I’m thinking of cutting loose before it gets to my turn.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Hi everyone, unfortunately I was recently affected by a layoff at my company. About 30% of their marketing department along with other departments were all let go. I have 3+ professional experience with product marketing, digital marketing, and event management. If you know of anyone looking for marketing specialists or just want to network in general let me know. I would love to connect!

Anyone know the severance at their agency? Curious what people experienced with lay offs - could be coming and want to be prepared

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".

After being laid off for like the 4th time in the last 10 years, I’m ready to go full time freelance and work for myself. Are there any resources out there for non-creatives on this journey? My background is strategy, analytics & general brand. I can also do media planning/buying for smaller clients.

I had a failed natural FET in Sep & did a mock transfer 2 weeks ago (HFET). Results came back Receptive. I got my period 2 days after stopping the PIO. RE mentioned I can start embryo transfer this week & did not need to wait for my next cycle. My periods are not always regular, so I like the idea of not waiting for them to start but also nervous if this could impact the embryo transfer as it would not follow the same timeline as that of the mock cycle. Anyone try this approach with success?

I bought a VR headset a couple weeks back and my mom increased the rent because “I can afford it.” Is this normal? I honestly feel used. Fwiw I’ve worked since I was 13, and hustled my entire life.

It’s a “boys weekend” (kids w/dad). Their grandad is also in town, since Wed. Dad has called to ask to have the boys in the evenings (i have W &Th, always). I have said “ok, but only if you don’t say anything negative about the polish.” So… they haven’t seen them. This hurts.
