Can anyone describe Amazon’s culture for an associate corporate counsel,based on team? I’ve read a number of comments on this app and across the internet about the company in general but the individuals never specify what team they’re referring to. I’ve heard from two corp counsel that AWS doesn’t have the best WLB but Prime Video does. I’d be interested to hear what this bowl has to add. The more data points I can gather before interviewing, the better.

Lawyers of Houston - which neighborhood do y’all live?

Hoping for some guidance. Junior associate here (3rd year). I’ve brought in 3 clients. Nothing major. ~ $500,000 in billings. I have an opportunity to lateral to a practice area I am very passionate about but my clients have active matters and therefore, likely wouldn’t come with me. Would I be stupid to leave my firm? Is half a mill in billings enough to even move the needle? The goal is to make partner. I’m worried that by leaving, I’d be giving up a real shot at partnership. Thank you!

American society would be in a better place if all of the “woke” young Americans of European descent used the same energy to talk with their loved ones who are bigoted, racist, and/or sexist. That’s the hard work that means more than taking selfies while protesting and posting on social media for dopamine hits.

Sources: Big win for Harris County and for Texas voter access. The Texas Supreme Court has denied a Republican petition to toss 100k+ ballots cast at drive throughs during early votes. Still a federal court hearing tomorrow but Texas court saying all good is wind in the sails of Harris. Federal judge is unlikely to overturn as it is a question of Texas law and TXSC has ruled its okay.

Who was the best looking president in US history (who have actual photographs)? Is it either Obama or Biden? They both looked quite handsome in their prime years.

They’re typically found in cities and suburbs, in population centers and college towns, and not in rural areas. Generally, the people who engage in these fields are well-educated, open-minded...and Democrats. Why is that?
