It's not stupid. They represent the airline when they ride for free. You wouldn't show up to work in yoga pants right? It's not hard to meet a very simple dress code.

like

The girls were "pass riders" and there is a dress code that goes along with being a "pass rider" so gate agent decided they were not abiding by the dress code for company benefit travel. @United twitter

like

^Still a needlessly stupid thing done by United

like

I agree with united on this one. I've been a pass rider before, and dressing nicely comes with the privilege. I was also warned about the dress code when I was given the passes. Next time pay your way and wear what you want.

like

Also, the father of the girls was allowed to board in shorts - so overall seems arbitrary and stupid

like

There's no way for a regular passenger to identify or recognize pass riders, so why is there even a stupid dress code? Who are they trying to impress? Seems so unnecessary.

policing women's (or in this case, girl's) clothing choices. 🙄 as long as genitals are covered i dont see a problem with letting someone (regardless of gender) wear what they want in a non professional setting. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Its not work TC1...they were teenage relatives of staff. If they were not called out nobody would know they are pass riders...so how are they "representing the airlines", and who actually cares about if pass riders are wearing yoga pants?

like

My comparison to work is that there is a dress code and expectation. Everyone who flys free knows about it (I did). Follow the rules to get free shit. It's so simple! I don't feel bad for them at all. They are representing united bc united gave them a free flight and they aren't paying for any services.

like

^was meant for TC1 as well

Yoga pants are a root cause of all evil

like

But we love yoga pants

like

What?

Good

Should do this for everyone, yoga pants are a privilege not a right, someone in the store should be monitoring what women are wearing them, and if they won't props to united for doing so

Leggings are not the same as yoga pants. Wearing leggings -specially the thin material kind - in public is inappropriate.

The airlines won't let pass riders wear pants low showing underpants for males ... it's not a thing against women. Geez... 🙄 it's a policy all airlines have, and have had, for years. You know the policy when you use the pass. My family used to be in biz casual for flying and my father still does bc he's representing the company. If he gets called for an emergency, ppl will know he's an employee.

Also, if you pay attention, you can tell who is a non-rev pass rider...

@pwc2 pretty sure you wouldn't want 14yrold girls wearing thongs in public, or boys for that matter.
It's about showing respect.

I'm pro Yoga pants however if you are flying on United dime as an employee benefit I'm okay with them enforcing a dress code. If Uncle D said they would travel me and my sig other anywhere for free as long as we wore business causal i would have a problem with it.

I believe that I dated a guy mid 30s in the closet for 1 year and I am having trouble moving on because I was very attracted to him. He made me feel that I am not good enough shortly after we became together. We would travel together and he would not want to kiss or do anything intimate except pecks on the lips bec “it’s not classy in public”,but he did nothing in private.

Our other card is Costco Visa (for Costco purchases or for places that don’t accept Amex).
