I’m from here but I’ll contribute: Respect the neighbourhoods in which you find yourselves, as transplants. Also, do not live in college neighbourhoods and expect peace and quiet at peak hours during the weekend.
Rampant pretentiousness
Metro is expensive!
Research neighborhoods and areas that are similar to your interests and live there. “Nearby” areas are often not nearby w traffic and hassle of commute.
Organizations based around hobbies/interests. There’s clubs on MeetUp based on pretty much anything, e.g cooking, soccer, chess, knitting, salsa dancing etc.
I grew up here and know that this city is centered around “what do you do for a living” so finding these little groups help make that cold/hollow feeling go away.
