I am a NEP considering a lateral move. My current practice includes work for personal clients that I have originated, but also institutional clients that my current firm has serviced for years. I have been the only attorney working with some of these institutional clients for a long time. I expect that at least a few will want to come with me, if I leave. A colleague/friend asked me for some freelance help editing a web page she was writing for a client. She’s always gotten me gigs, but this was a little different (collaborating v solo). Still I spent a good five hours revising, coming up with suggestions and helping her rewrite and in the end…no mention of rate/invoice/nada. 5 year TSM in a niche vertical within the construction rental industry, our base salary is very low but I make it up in commission with OTE around 120-150k annually. Went on a final interview today and the interviewer yawned through my presentation, was so BRUTAL with feedback, and was just super low-energy. This dude picked apart my entire presentation and frowned through all of it. Up until this point, everyone that I interviewed with said the presentation was great, but some things that need improvement. I just don’t understand how it’s normal that it’s expected that you make presentations and work for free— just to have someone take a huge shit on you.

Wanting to moves from Sales AE to a Partner AM. I like selling/talking with people but the stress of hitting the number every year is draining. Any thoughts on good companies that have a great partner landscape/channel? Not saying I want an easy job but have heard it’s more about “inspiring” than selling since closing is partially taken out.

My husband does not have a degree but immense sales experience. He has been in sales in the food and beverage industry for about 10 years now and wants to get into tech. I am in tech and have a degree so unsure if he needs a degree to get a sales role? So many places are quick to turn away great candidates because of schooling even if their experience surely qualifies them. Anyone have experience or know if their company requires a BA for sales roles?
