Any advice on where to start looking that is realistic? I'm not willing to hump 80 hours next to a 22 yr old undergrad for the same pay, but also 100% understand I'm taking a huge side step in this hopeful transition

Can anyone advise on law enforcement career tracks for very experienced CPAs interested in (but not experienced in) forensic accounting? I am 36 and going to retire at 41 - I’m done being a manager/leader in my current tax consulting profession. If I had known about law enforcement careers in college I would have gone that route but by the time I discovered it later, I wasn’t willing to start over on salary. Now I can do that. I love solving data puzzles and want to spend more time doing that.

Is loyalty a thing in consulting? Project leadership has been offering billable hours from the markup even though there's not much to do. Would it be bad if I leave for other opportunities?

Mid level Electrical Engineer in the greater Baltimore, MD area making $115k base w/ $20k sign on bonus. No yearly bonus. I started this job in April of this year. 2-3 years experience. When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. Hey sharks, I have close to 5.5 years of experience with big4s and currently at 20 lpa fixed plus variable. I am being offered manager by KP at 27 lpa fixed plus variable and 6 lakh joining bonus. I was put into PIP in my first company. I believed my manager said that it's only for improvement. I signed it. Later realized it's a termination plan. So I quit the company. But after 5 years I got a call from my First company HR for another role, I was happy to take that opportunity. But later HR called me and said they couldn't proceed for some reason.
