I don’t agree with the assumption that you’d get pigeonholed into insurance just because you have NYL on your resume. It’s also about the role itself and skills you build in it. If those all translate into other firms/industries, you will have a variety of potential exit opportunities. NYL is also probably the kind of place where you could have a dynamic career if you wanted to stay, and not only work in insurance (they also have a well known investment arm, for example).
10 YOE and getting $350k? This is a no brainer, or are you trying to brag 🤣. Congrats!
Assume it’s a Sales role if non-Tech?
Sales Enablement. And thank tou
Idk I’d just go with the 350k option? Lol
An extra 150k makes this an easy decision
What a nice problem to have…
Hey bud, NYL all the way! Let me tell you that you won’t get stuck with Insurance. We are the best in insurance YES, but we are full service Advisors. insurance is one of our strengths but we do the whole holistic Financial Planning Strategies. Plus, you’ll get the BEST support in the industry and is not because I have my practice with NYL, I’m telling you this cause I came from other large firms and NYL has no competition. 350k all the way! Good luck!
Ask Goldman to match if not New York lofe
Then honestly NYL
200 vs 350 lol

You have the ability to make $350k with sales or are you getting a guaranteed $350k?
250 k base and 100 k bonus. First year is usually committed.
10 years of experience? I’d go with the extra 150k. Time value of money. You’ll have the next 20-30-40 years of your work life to figure it out.
What role at NYL offers 350k guaranteed comp?
NY Life

What’s the role?
Agreed, knowing both of the roles for GS n NYL would help with determining the short and long term (exit) options and thus the final decisions.
Not all that glitters is gold, eh?
Differences in health benefits? Retirement? Vacation? My guess is NYL has superior ones, but it can cost you. I compared two roles that were 50k off at one point on base & bonus, but after benefits & vacation, the lower paid one was better. Obviously 150 is a huge gap…but might be narrower after accounting for those.)
You should be able to get some docs from both companies.
Goldman if you care about prestige
Absolutely the 350k option.
Silly question
350k
I'm currently interviewing with NY Life, what role are you considering? mine is a S PM
I’m gunning for non Product role. What’s the SPM offer like ? Bonus % please ?
NYL ez
I don't get why the mention of gaps?
I should be making more money in my current role but had to make compromises and accept the offer as it was great opportunity to get back on track in the “ job market” from entrepreneurship
